Ziva earned her 1st Double Q Friday in Erie, PA at the Dog Obedience Training Club Agility Trial on Friday August 25th. She placed 2nd in Masters Jumpers with Weaves and 3rd in Masters Standard and picked up a total of 30 PACH points.
Introducing Alta-Tollhaus Michigan “Mika” – pronounced Mee-ka. She is one of ten pups from the M litter born mid June. I have been talking to Julie about getting a female for awhile now but didn’t think it would happen so soon- well circumstances aligned and here she is! Better yet, another AT puppy is also residing in Washington state and those puppy parents were kind enough to transport Mika home 🙂
Mika has been with us for a week now and is such a wonderful puppy!!! She loves her crate and is super fun to train. We have a puppy tug/flirt pole for her that we take out a couple times a day. I also give her a treat every time she looks up at me (she is picking up on that really quick) She loves working for treats and dinner. I have been luring her into sits, downs, heeling, etc, basically everything I want her to do as an adult in modified puppy version. We do this for a few minutes several times a day and she just loves it! As you can imagine, I’ve been taking a ton of pictures of her. Below are some of my favorites, and look her ears were up by the end of the week (though I’m sure they’ll go down and up again)! This is Mika at 8 and 9 weeks old.
Mika shares her new home with a 7 year old shepherd named Lexi and with Steve, a almost 3 year old from Alta-Tollhaus who you can find on this blog 🙂
Hard to believe it was just a year from ACT 1 to Excellent for this team new to agility. On to Masters! Good girl Ziva!
She always tries everything I ask of her. She has been an amazing first competition dog for me as we both work our way through all of these new experiences.

Today was day 2 of Paw Palooza and the Cape Cod Kennel Club was holding another dog agility demonstration. My mother and I went to the event early this morning with Aiden. We helped set up the agility equipment and get ready for the demo at 10:00am. Jack had to work today, but since this is an animal event and only two towns over from Harwich, he was able to come over for some community policing.
While Jack was still at the event we were approached by a gentleman who wanted to meet Aiden after seeing him in the demo. Turns out that he is looking for a GSD puppy. As we were explaining how important it is to find a good breeder he told us that he lives in Michigan. What a coincidence!! We, ofcourse, told him Aiden was from Michigan and gave him all of the AT contact information.
…..we are still waiting for some business cards from you Julie!
Outside of the tent of the dog trainer who has used Aiden as the test dog for CGC and TDI we saw this poster. One of the pictures is of Lark, Aila, and Aiden.
Have a great summer everybody!
Today at the 2nd annual Paw Palooza members of the Cape Cod Kennel Club participated in a dog agility demonstration. No ribbons or titles for anyone here…this was just for fun! This was a way to introduce people to the sport of dog agility and how important it is for the dog and human to work as a team. It was a warm but cloudy day and there were crowds of people with dogs and children. We had a great time.
This video was taken by someone Jack works with on a cellphone. It is very out of focus however we found it interesting to listen to the announcer and the crowd.
