Ziva is Back on Track

This weekend we were able to attend the Lake Country Lure Coursers Scent Work trial in Tonawanda. We had entered this trial prior to her surgery & were lucky enough to get into most of the classes we entered.   Ziva was cleared for takeoff Wednesday, (at least for scentwork trials).  This is a new sport for us and since she loves to use  her nose I thought it would be a good fit – – she loves it!  We (I) made plenty of novice mistakes, but she was great. Apparently, THE NOSE KNOWS!  She earned 3 legs in Novice Containers and Novice Interiors completing those titles (SIN & SCN). She also earned 1 Novice handler discrimination leg with a first place and 1 advanced containers leg.  The rooms for the interior searches were too crowded to allow someone in to video, so we don’t have any of those runs.  This was a very challenging environment as it is a training/doggy day care center, so there were interesting smells everywhere.   The other test we entered and had to withdraw from was a school and I think the smells may not have been as distracting, so  I was really pleased with her work in this challenging environment.  Hoping the weather co-operates & we can get into a trial that can offer exterior searches 🙂

Ziva’s shiny new title certificates

Trick Dog Performer Ziva

Ziva passed her Trick Dog Performer test and received her title January 12, but for some reason the certificate just arrived this week.  We passed a brutal below zero winter day doing some of her favorite tricks to make a video to send to the AKC for her Trick Dog Performer submission.  She is so cute 🙂

2017 Libby and Ziva Annual Awards Recognition

DOTCORNY training club held their annual awards banquet last night. Recognition and Title bars are given to members and their dogs  for  titles earned during the year.  Our members and their furry partners earned 278 titles across multiple venues!  Each year we have a nice dinner, time with our friends, a game of dog trivia and one of our members puts together a movie of the members and their dogs throughout the year.   I have attached a link to that movie.

I knew the girls and I had been busy and in 2017 Libby and Ziva earned a total of 16 titles!  Thank you Julie for my smart, versatile girls who are willing to try whatever I ask.  They are always eager for any adventure even if it is just a trip to the park or riding shotgun while I run errands.

Ziva lead the way with 11 new titles.  She became an AKC Champion, earning her Tracking Champion Title (CT), Variable Surface Tracking Title (VST), Trick Dog Novice Title (TKN), Trick Dog Intermediate Title (TKI), Trick Dog Advanced Title (TKA)and her German Shepherd Dog Club of America Temperament Certificate (TC).  In the Preferred Agility classes she earned her Open Agility (OAP), Open Jumpers with Weaves (OJP), Excellent Agility (AXP), Excellent Jumpers with Weaves (AJP) and Master Jumpers with Weaves(MJP).  She also continues to hold the record and possession of the trophy she earned last year for most titles earned by a member’s novice dog.

Libby not wanting to be left out earned 5 new titles;  Companion Dog Title (CD), Farm Dog Certified Title (FDC) , Trick Dog Novice Title (TKN), Trick Dog Intermediate Title (TKI) and her German Shepherd Dog Club of America Temperament Certificate (TC).

Ziva finally gets a chance to play

Ziva had nice runs on Saturday at the SOTC agility trial after being off for 4 weeks.

Master JWW Q with a 3rd placement

Master Std Q with a 1st placement

She has another pending surgery coming up, so we will be laying low for a bit, which is hard for Z-Evil one to do!  I don’t think we will be ready for any agility until May.  Until then we can sharpen our Nosework skills to keep her out of trouble 🙂
