On Friday before the Parade of Greats we spent the day relaxing at Purina Farms. Aiden and I took a ride on the shuttle golf cart.10-14-16-10

Aiden wanted to go shopping and pick out a new sleeve for protection work!10-14-16-8

No sleeve for Aiden but he did get to play with his cousin, Zeta.10-14-16-7

After the Parade of Greats we went to dinner at the Hawthorn Inn.10-14-16-11

On Saturday morning we went back to Purina Farms. Julie had arrived very late Friday night. We met up with her and Barb and watched some of the Sieger Show.10-15-16-2

Then it was on the road for our first day of the 1400 mile trip home. We stopped at the Lieber State Recreation Area in Indiana. It was a nice chance for Aiden to stretch his legs.10-15-16-4

We hunkered down for the night in East Indianapolis. We had dinner and went to bed. At about 1:00am  Jack was awakened with severe pain in his lower right abdomen and back. We had no idea what was wrong but the pain was awful. I called 911 and 6 medics arrived and crowded into the room. Aiden was so good while they took his daddy out on a stretcher and  took him to the Hospital. Aiden and I followed in the car. It turned out to be kidney stones which Jack has never had before. We spent about 4 hours in the ER, then headed back to the hotel and got 3 hours sleep and hit the road again.

We just took short breaks along the way and stopped for the night in Carlisle, PA. After a good night sleep, we started our last day on the road. Along the way we visited Bushkill Falls. We had a great time.10-17-16-1

We also stopped on the banks of the Delaware River which divides PA and NJ. Aiden got to take a swim.img_3577

We got home at about 11:00pm and were met at the door by Dylan and Lamont and a “Welcome Home” sign my mother made.10-17-16-welcome-home-1

We had a great time at the GSDCA National. It was truly a once in a lifetime experience. Thanks so much to Andrea, Barb and Julie for coming to share this special event with us.

What a fun adventure. Well, minus the kidney stone part….. that does not sound fun! Aiden is such an awesome dog; I just love following along on all his journeys!

What a fun exciting trip. Congrats and super pictures too. sorry about the kidney stones I hear those are the worst! I loved the coming home photo it is something my Mom would have done as she was the one who always took care of our animals at home when we went to Nationals. I miss her every day . Hope one day we will get to go to another GSD National. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks. We had a great time.
I am lucky that my mother lives next door to us and she is so helpful with the animals.
