Here is a video of Cabrera earning his UWP.  He was leaning into me before this pull, which is not allowed, but he was so excited to pull that it was hard to get him to stand upright.  He finally stood up enough to be allowed to start.  Silly boy.

My comment is on the previous post-did not realize they were 2 separate posts. Does someone stop the cart so it does not run into the dog?

Lisa,
There is always two people helping, one to help hook them up and the other to stop the cart from behind so it doesn’t hit them. Cabrera pulled so quickly that I was really afraid that the cart was going to hit him, but they are very good about catching it.

I am sending my girls to you for weight-pull training since you have already mastered redneck weight-pull-LOL

Absolutely, but obviously the redneck weight pull method works!

Great job! I think people don’t realize there are rules and techniques to weight pull….it’s not just hooking a dog up and hoping for the best. Thanks for sharing with us!

Thanks! There are definitely rules to weight pull, which my mom found out the hard way. She should have faulted several times but the judge is so nice that she was lenient and helped teach her what to do, like not hold the leash in your hand when you let go of the dog. She said that it was a learning experience and will do it again. My mom also let go of Gibbs and walked slowly away from him and he almost ran into her because the cart wasn’t very heavy. We were all yelling at her to run (which helping from the crowd isn’t allowed) because touching of any kind is a fault. Gibbs didn’t qualify anyway so she learned from the experience. Cabrera is much harder to pull because he leans and jumps forward so you have to be really careful that he is on all four feet before starting and doesn’t touch you. This is a great sport to experience at least once. 🙂

Chica, would you like to do weight pulling like Cabrera? “Yes, let’s do it! I’ll sit on the cart and Cabrera can pull me!”

Tell Chica that I think there is a line forming and Libby is in front. 🙂

No problem! Chica can charm her way to the front of any line!

If only my neighbors could see this video so they’d know I’m not crazy and redneck after all.
