Libby and Ziva accomplished 2 Q’s and their Herding Instinct titles-Yeah!!!!

This is what Mom accomplished.

I received the “Can’t Walk and Chew Gum at the same time” award during Ziva’s go.  I stepped in a divit during Ziva’s evaluation and rolled my foot.  Z-evil one broke away from the sheep and came over to me on the ground right away. I can’t believe she left the sheep, because she thought they were great fun and her prey drive is fairly high. I was helped out of the ring and the judge ended up handling her for the remainder of the test. She re-engaged, but stopped to check-in  during her passes on my side of the fence. Luckily there were 2 medical professionals there or I may have had more swelling and bruising if they had not wrapped and iced me right away.   This photo does not do the blue color justice.

The herding folks at this trial were the best.  Very friendly and helpful.  A couple from mid-state even offered to drive me home, since I twisted my right ankle.  I may have to try this again.  The herding part, not the falling part 🙂

Lisa,
Did you by chance get it x-rayed? Just to be sure nothing is broken. It looks owww-y. Again, I’m sorry you got hurt and I hope it heals quickly, so you can get back to training.
What a test for Ziva! IMO, she passed many tests during her instinct test. 🙂 Leaving her sheep to make sure Mom is OK…then being handled by a stranger…she re-ingages, and passes. That’s wonderful. You should be so pleased with her.
Heal fast and get your butt back to training!
xoxo

It is healing slowly but surely. It is spectacularly colored though. I will miss 2 weeks of agility w/Z-Evil one and they are not liking trading indside livingroom training w/me in a chair for their walks this time of year. We have, however, mastered the art of chukit throwing while I sit on a park bench 🙂

Congratulations to Ziva and Libby! Sorry to Lisa! I hope your ankle heals quickly. Did you practice herding with them at all before this? I would love to take Ember and Cabrera but it is so expensive to take them anywhere. I wasn’t sure if the herding instinct test was just you putting them out there and seeing what they’ll do. It looks like fun! Get better soon!

It is instinct. I was told sometimes it may take a few tries for it to kick in. Libby had seen them 1x before and Ziva never. I have not had a chance to post Ziva’s 1st run, and the Sunday Runs for both girls were never done b/c of my injury. Libby was also handled by the judge for run 2. I was at a better vantage point for her to see me during her run and she did not see me splat on the ground like Z-Evil one.

Wow I am very impressed…. Ziva is the superstar of the day for leaving sheep to check on Mom! So sorry about your ankle, I can see how easy that would be to do, you are focused on your dog, the sheep, and the task at hand, not paying attention to the uneven ground.

Get well quickly!
