It has been very hot and humid the past few days so today after work we took Dylan and Aiden to the Bell’s Neck Conservation area for a short walk and a long swim.
On our way back we were surprised to find a baby Snapping Turtle in the middle of the path.
Aiden was not quite sure what to make of this prehistoric creature.
Dylan assured Aiden that it was safe…. from this end
but definitely not from this end!
Fearing that some careless person might step on the turtle, and considering the heat, we decided to place the turtle nearer the water. Once we put it down it went right for the water and disappeared from sight.
Great photos, Lynda! That little guy is lucky that you & Jack came along and helped him to the water.
I am pretty sure that Pieka might have taste-tested your little friend. I now have a mental image of her running in circles with a snapping turtle hanging off her tongue….oh, dear. I am glad that you were able to help the little guy to safety!
Love the photos and captions. You always make us feel as though we are with you. Thanks again for sharing!
Thanks for sharing the tale of Lucky the turtle. Good thing it was found by your guys. My post I’m sure would have been a pic of the turtle attached to either Libby’s or Zivz’s nose (most likely Z-Evil one). Your guys have the best places to walk.
I agree with all the above…you do need to work for cape cod tourism. Those snappers are rather cute when they are little. 🙂
Actually you already do work for CC tourism, but maybe they should give you some sort of perk
