With my job and housing situation still in flux, and Batman developing into quite the confident young male, it seemed like a good idea to send him to Carole and his Florida aunties for a few months, while I get everything sorted out in California. I know everything will turn out for the best, and feel very fortunate to have Carole and the Florida ninjas to help us make this transition.
Batman flies out tomorrow on a 5-hour direct flight to Florida. Per United’s Petsafe regulations, I purchased the largest crate known to man. It is about the size of my first studio apartment. Luckily, the crate and Batman both fit in the car!
I will miss my Batmonster so much, I’m starting to tear-up as I write this. But I know it’s only for a little while, and Batman will have so much fun at Camp Kayla, and that makes it easier.
Thank you, Carole! Take lots of pictures for me!
You must have a huge car to fit one of crates, they are bigger then big.
It will be lonely without the Batman but he will back before you know it.

The crate had to be disassembled before fitting into the car. We will have to assemble it at the airport. The thing is massive! I’m putting his favorite blanket to line the bottom and sides, so he is not tossed around too much in there.
I am going to be so sad without him.
Have a safe flight tomorrow Batman.
Jennie,
I can only imagine how difficult this must be for you & hope it will get easier as you count the days to his return.
You know that Batman will love his springbreak stay at Camp Kayla & will return to you with a slew of new training tools like cooking, wine drinking, frisbee tossing, & God only knows what else… 🙂
Michigan to Florida to Washington DC to California to Florida… this dog sure gets around. 🙂
Good luck with everything you plan to do… we look forward to hearing about Batty’s adventures in Florida!
Kayla and I promise to take good care of the Batling. You have done what is best for your dog. He’ll be home before you know it and you can do the happy dance together. Now go get a job! 😉

Carole
Ugh! My heart hurts for you JK! Just look into those loving eyes. (Shit I can’t cry at work!!)
Carole will take good care of him for sure, pretty sure Batty will even cook you and Eric dinner when he gets back!
Jennie, you know Batty will be in the best hands ever and, of course, his aunties will be on hand to throw in lots of extra hugs and belly rubs:) He’ll be home before you know it.
Jennie, the Florida Aunties will spoil him rotten and he gets to hang with those cuties Willa & Chica. What more could a Batdog need? Hope Kayla is a good chaperone 🙂
Jennie – I can barely leave Digger to go to work so I can’t imagine how you feel. Carole will take such good care of Batman, don’t cry. He’ll be back before you know it and have lots of new things to show you and you’ll be so proud of him. Good luck with the job and house hunting.
I think it was a very courageous decision. While I am certain you will miss Batman, it took a lot of guts to say that you need some help and some space to work things out.
My wife introduced me to your blog and if it makes you feel any better, Vander is 17 months now and he has recently done things that makes me say “who the hell are you”? Like you, tons of training, tons of exercise, left him alone for a couple hours a two days ago to go to the gym and he chewed through our carpet! WTF?!?! So take heart. You are not alone in wondering what has happened to your dog! Putting myself in your shoes with a move and other things going on, I would probably have done likewise. Best of luck to you!!
