It is interesting to view the comparison chart. As with all insurance companies, you’ve really got to read the fine print to see what is actually covered.

I use Healthy Paws Pet Insurance, and have had no problems so far. I just submitted my first claim last month, it was easy enough, though I haven’t received my reimbursement yet. Here are my selected policy settings:
The deductible is for the whole year, so the uncovered portion (10%, in my case) of every vet bill counts towards it. Once you pay $500 out of pocket (meaning, you had $5,000 in vet bills total, of which the insurer reimbursed you $4,500), the coverage increases to 100% for the rest of the year.
Hopefully, we will never get to that level, but you never know. They do cover hip dysplasia, but the dog has to be under 6 and there’s a 1-yr waiting period.
Waiting Periods:
15 days from the Pet Policy Effective Date for accidents and illness and 12 months from the Pet Policy Effective Date for illness related to hip dysplasia (your pet is not required to undergo a complete physical hip exam for hip dysplasia coverage).
