Keep AWAY from Dogs/Pups!
My vet mentioned this to me and I thought it was worth passing along. Use extreme caution when using Gorilla Glue or any other polyurethane glue. Keep it and the object glued away from your fur kids. A small amount of Gorilla Glue expands greatly when ingested and then hardens and requires surgical removal. An ounce of ingested Gorilla Glue can expand to the size of a basketball! My vet had just surgically removed a large mass of the stuff from a youngster and it was not an easy process.
THanks Carole. I would not have guessed that it would expand so.
….and for some reason they like the taste of it. Mos’s Vet technician at MSU had a Whippet that ate some of this and they had to do major surgery to remove it. The glue hardened into a perfectly anatomically accurate model of a dog’s stomach. Mos has pictures someplace, when I find them I will post them.
Good to know. I use Gorilla Glue for one step when I’m making my push boards and I don’t allow the dogs to “help” (there are other non-dog-friendly materials involved) but will take extra precaution.
