In the Spring 2012 issue of The Labrador Quarterly there is a centerfold article about Dylan’s grandmother Ch. ShadowGlen Dunraven UD, RE, JH, THD, WC, CGC, TDIAOV.
In the Article Dylan’s Breeder, Margaret Wilson, mentions me and Dylan. It is a 12 page article. I scanned in the pages where Dylan is mentioned.
Love it! Dylan continues to be our inspiration. Agility, obedience, and companion extraordinaire! Our young Dutch may appear to be a little soft, with the lazy life he’s leading, but he too is a daily delight. Our beloved 11 year old chocolate lab Beaumont doesn’t travel well anymore, so he’s home in Holyoke with a woman who takes in up to 2 dogs with special needs. Beaumont needs lots love and attention, so it’s a good fit. I hope he misses me just a little!
Hi Lynda, Glad to hear from you. Good to see you still doing your passion. Hope all is well as can be, you are still in my thoughts and prayers.
Thanks Tammie.
The article was written a while ago and the picture I posted is of Dylan at an agility trial in November last year.
I have not been able to do any training or competing with Dylan. I pulled him from the first agility trial he was going to be in, since his health issues with the abcsess, over Memorial Day weekend. We were taking a mini vacation with the boys to go to the trial. It would have been Ivan’s first outdoor trial and we were really looking forward to it. We can’t face going now. It will take time for sure. We miss him so much.
Lynda, I am still so sorry for you. I lost my Shepherd in September to Cancer, I didn’t even know he had. I took him in on an emergency visit and they told me there was nothing they could do. I was like what??? Know…. he ‘s fine what are you talking about, so I went to the vet with him and left without him. Oh how I still think of him DAILY!!
Now 8 months later we will be bringing home our new baby on June 23rd a pup from the B litter. I feel guilty, but am ready to love again and receive the unconditional love he will give us. Bosco would want that I know. Please take care and know you are thought of on the pain you feel. Tammie
Yay!! Go Dylan!!!
The author describes Lynda the best:
“Lynda Brogen-Burns is the owner that breeders dream about.”
Boy, isn’t that the truth!
Awesome photos of Dylan. You both deserved to be featured in the Quarterly.
Ditto, ditto, ditto.
Hi Lynda:
So nice to read your post and see such nice accolades for your and Dylan’s accomplishment’s.
Dylan has been my favorite lab for a long time now. I think any magazine, Labrador based or not, would be lucky to get to do an article on him!
I also loved how his name, Dylan, is an anagram of your own Lynda. I would love to be clever like that to for my next pup, but I don’t think he would appreciate being named, “Eel.” !
Lee, it would be funny if you name your puppy Eel.
“Eel, heel, heel!”
Very clever of you to notice that Lee. Maybe if you used your first, middle and or last names you could come up with something?
Way to go Dylan!
Lynda, I share your pain. It is so hard losing them so young. If Koda isn’t here with us, I think I’d be on happy pills.
(((Big hugs))))
Lynda, that quote is right on – you are a dream owner. I am happy to see Dylan getting the recognition he deserves, he’s a fantastic dog. We think of you often. The loss of such a beloved companion is a terrible thing – they say time heals all wounds, but sometimes it seems to go so slowly. Take care of yourselves.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Lab as handsome as Dylan!
Lynda, I have to thank you for sharing the foxtail burr warning with us last summer. Last week, Batman and I were in South Carolina, playing in an old prison yard (it’s now a condo development, go figure). I had Batman on leash, and as I approached a field, I saw what looked like wild barley or foxtail mixed in with the grasses and weeds. I turned Batman right around, and did not let him go near that field.
I’m not sure that it really was foxtail, but after Dylan’s long and painful road to recovery, I was not about to take the risk. This is also the time of year when foxtails grow dangerous.
Here’s a guide to CA foxtails. Don’t be fooled by the California designation — Dylan caught it on the East coast, if I remember correctly.

I think of Ivan daily. I never even met him, but he still touches my heart. I can’t imagine how hard it is for you. Take all the time you need.
Wow, look at the smile on Dylans face! What a happy boy.
Wonderful comments on Dylan in the article, and very well-deserved.
I am so sorry to hear that you have not been able to go on your planned mini-vacation. Another friend did not attend the show this weekend because they couldn’t bear it after unexpectedly loosing their dog to leukemia. The first symptom showed up only a week earlier. I bring it up so you know that we understand and know how you feel.
Big hug to you.
Oh, Dylan…he looks like such a lover! Thanks for sharing his centerfold & article.
Well deserved Lynda! Thanks for sharing. Really looking forward to getting together next week. 🙂
How wonderful!!! Dylan is so awesome…someday I hope you will share with me even just a few of your Labrador-training secrets:) Congratulations, I am so happy that he has gotten such well-deserved recognition. Give him a big hug!!
