Andrea, are you doing private lessons or in a group? How often/week? Libby loves the puppy lunge-I have to store it in a closet on the top shelf-it is best if she doesn’t see me put it away! What do you use for your food lure in the heeling?
I will help answer for Andrea. She is working on the foundations with Gustavo Sanchez, the lessons are group lessons but they are individual. So I guess semi private. She is using food for the heeling. But I don’t know what food exactly.
As Julie mentioned, there are more than Zeta and I at training, so she is exposed to larger dogs training, but we each train with Gustavo one on one then go home to practice what we learn. It works out really well for me as I am so new to the sport of Schutzhund, I get to learn from the lessons the older dogs are being taught whilst I wait for my one on one time with Gustavo.
I am using the Natural Balance Duck and Potato treat which looks like a large sausage and I cut it up into small pieces for heeling. I think I might have to go to something else though, because although she loves it, it can tend to crumble in my fingers when I bait her and then she spends time checking out what fell on the ground. It’s a great treat to give for the retrieve, but not so much for the heeling work though.
Thanks to everyone for your complements and aof course to Julie for taking the photographs.
I am sorry I have been remiss about responding, but with a new little ball of fire in the family, she is taking up most of my spare time!
We are absolutely delighted with her, and yes, she really seems to enjoy her training with Gustavo.

Andrea, I recently tired the Duck & Potato and had the same problem with it.
I like the lamb—it doesn’t crumble nearly as much.
Whoops, I meant to add that we use Zukes Mini Naturals Salmon. Everyone loves it!

I agree…she is so darn cute!
It was great to see you again Andrea! I look forward to watching little Miss Zeta grow in the SchH sport.
Good to see you guys again too. Matt will be with me this week and I know he’s looking forward to seeing you again and meeting Brady.
Wow, all I can say again is… she is a beauty! It looks like she is doing great with her training too.
Thanks Lynda – we are very proud of her.
Andrea, your kid is a DOLL!
