On Wednesday May 12, 2010 the Cape Cod Kennel Club held its annual  Conformation and Obedience Members Match. We decided to enter Ivan along with Dylan this year. The match is held in an old gym. We felt that the experience would be great for Ivan.

In Conformation Alta-Tollhaus Ivan, at 4 1/2 months old, was best of breed puppy, Best of Breed and 2nd in Group.  In Obedience Ivan placed 1st  in Pre- Novice B and was High in Trial!

Both good looks and brains!

In Conformation Dylan was Best of Breed and 3rd in Group. In Obedience Dylan placed first in Open B.

Both Ivan’s and Dylan’s Obedience runs (but not the long sits and downs)

Lynda awesome job with both Ivan and Dylan. Ivan HIT at 4.5 months, oh my! I love how he did his front and started right into the finish and then stopped himself and sat. Congratulations!

Thanks Julie. Ivan is trying not to let his HIT over Dylan go to his head!!

Ivan can do great fronts off leash across the garden. Before the match I practiced on leash but would back up a few steps when calling him. At the match the judge said we had to stand still when calling the dogs. When I called Ivan he got up but when I did not back up he got a little confused. He thought it through and came back to the front even though his sit was crooked.
I never thought he would do the Stand for Exam. That is not something we have done in class yet. We practiced a few times in the garden with just my mother and Jack being the “judge” and I was never the whole 6′ in front of him. When I did it at the match he never moved…what a good boy!!

Wonderful job, Lynda, Ivan and Dylan! Ivan–two things: 1.) You are so BIG! And very handsome! and 2.) Bet you wondered why that “big, silver, shiny dog bowl” you earned came with no treats! 🙂

Lynda, after reading about the fronts I am even more impressed with Ivan’s problem-solving skills, fantastic! The stand was picture perfect and could not have been better, really amazing, I agree with Jil, that is some hardware little Ivan won!
