Yesterday our agility trainer hosted a Christmas party for all of her students and dogs. It was a great get-together with lots of food, drink, Christmas music, a Yankee Swap and an agility course that all the dogs got several turns to run.
Aiden never misses an opportunity to hang out with the girls.
One of the students set up the agility table and hung a sheet behind it to create a place for people to take Christmas pictures.
Of course I took advantage of it.
Then there were 2 GSDs on the table.
Aiden and his friend Yasha
….and then there were 3 GSDs on the table
Yasha, Aiden (who would not sit up straight!) and Ella
…and then one of the GSDs turned into a Cattle Dog!
Aiden, Archer and Yasha
….and just how many dogs will fit on one small table…..FOUR!!
Aiden, Archer, Yasha and Switch, the Border Collie puppy!
Aiden had a great time at the party
Merry Christmas to all the Alta-Tollhaus Family from Santa Paws!
Looks like a good time was had by everyone. Is this an agility club or your OB club you belong to?
Hi Lisa,
Yes, a good time was had by all!
Cape Cod is a beautiful place to live but, as it is somewhat like an island, there are very limited resources, especially in the dog training world. I am a not a member of an obedience or agility club as there are none here. I am member of the Cape Cod Kennel Club but they do not have a physical building. The CCKC holds puppy kindergarten and basic obedience in an old school gymnasium one hour once a week but they do not have any competitive obedience classes…or even any non-competition advanced classes. The CCKC used to hold agility classes one evening a week in a horse riding ring and the instructor came from “off Cape”. The barn changed owners and the KC could no longer use it so the agility program came to a halt.
There is a training center near the bridge to the Cape, Joseph’s Obedience School. It is a nice indoor facility with good matting but it is a fairly narrow space. You can put in two obedience rings but it is not big enough for a standard agility ring.
Over the years I have taken my dogs there for basic obedience. Joseph does not teach competitive obedience but he has a gentleman that does obedience run thrus one evening a week and we took Aiden there when we were working on his CDX.
A couple of years ago Joseph hired Lori to teach agility classes and he has slowly accumulated all the agility equipment. Lori teaches lots of classes there from beginner to competition levels. It is a great space for beginner agility but not really wide enough for a completion class. I go there once a week for an hour on Monday evenings if I get out of work on time. Aiden and I have learned a lot but Aiden is a different dog to handle when he gets into a full size ring in a trial where there is more room between obstacles and space to really run.
Sorry for the long answer to your question! At times I wish we lived near Amherst NH where they have a great facility that holds all kinds of classes, seminars, and obedience and agility trials etc.
If I ever win the lottery I will build a big indoor/outdoor dog training facility in the middle of the Cape!!
That’s a nice photo of you & Aiden.
Thanks Carole.
