This is from an email Terri ( aka DuKe’s mom) sent me. Terri’s father was living with her so she could be there to help look after him, he recently passed away. Β Terri has had a hard time adjusting to life without Dad, as has DuKe. Β So for some distraction in their life Terri has taken Pala into her household until Pala comes into season. Pala gets to live in a house and be spoiled rotten. Pala gives Terri and DuKe a little companionship. Win-win. Terri has been wondering who I had in mind for Pala’s next man and I have shared that with her, and apparently Terri has been thinking a lot about Pala as a breeding female and sent this email with her opinion on breeding Pala…or not breeding Pala…..
Julie……..I’m seriously questioning your thought process, or whatΒ it is exactly you are looking to produce by breeding Pala. If she were mine, I would spay her IMMEDIATELY.Β Seriously, I don’t know what kind of market would be interested in her babies.ΒMaybe, it’s the Swantucky air that has affected her ability to produce quality German Shepherd Dogs?Β If so, she MUST return to Michigan NOW.It breaks my heart to have to share this with you……..but…..this is her latest litter:Β a black/white cow, a purple bear, a Christmas bone, a purple mutt of some type, a red and green star, an orange lion, a yellow monkey (this poor pup….got his ears chewed off..I don’t know how or who), and the odd-balls…..a red kong and a green ball.Β The red and green star has been banished to the back yard.Β It is all alone. πΒ She was all about taking this baby outside with her..and now…she just ignores it.Β She must know something is really wrong with it??Yes, it’s a big litter, and she is taking good care of them (except the star).Β I think other than the obvious, something is wrong with their voice boxes….you don’t hear a SQUEEK out of any of them.Β It’s like they are broken πΒ She’ll give them gentle squeezes…but..the don’t make any noise.Β I did have to break her from fussing to hard with their fur.Β I’ve found bits of orange, blue, and purple fur about the house.Β I just think she wanted to make sure they were really clean.Β Well, that’s what I tell myself. She always has one of her kids in her mouth.Β But when she is free from motherly chores…she goes out side and plays with…….her Jolly ball.π
Β
I knew when I read the title of this post that it was going to be good. I wasn’t disappointed. Just another reason that I call her “crazy Terri”. π
Honestly, it wasn’t me! It was all Pala Trafalga (from da block). I had NOTHING to do with this….it was all Missy P. I’m just the reporter…..So don’t shoot me.
Pala is quite da wonderful girl. Talk about adaptable? She saw a mini van with the tailgate open…along with a crate door open……….that’s all it took! It’s like she has lived with us forever.
Today, my brother visited with his Boxer pup. I had NO issue letting Pala out to welcome *Stanley*. She was so happy with the baby as he was with her. There are just some things that you *know* . I knew it in Pala when I first met her.
What do you look for in a brood bitch? What do you look for in a bitch that is suitable for pups with a future in Schutzhund, or AKC obedience, or Therapy work????
This is strictly my opinion and my observations in Pala v. Trafalga. First of all, Pala had NEVER met me before…
She jumped into the opened door of the crate in my van…..I sat next to the crate and talked to her and offered her some tidbits of chicken….which, she excepted. It was decided, by Pala, that she would come home with DuKey and I…….Ok’d by Julie. π
This is what I saw in Pala, as far as a brood bitch….for me, I want a pup for Schutzhund…..I saw this in Pala…drive for: play (toys), ..speaks for itself. She loves toys, regardless of balls, squeekies…I have bruises to prove it.
She LOVES her food….and will work for it. And for me the number one thing of importance for a pup for Schutzhund??? They must want to BE/work for their person. Pala v Trafalga (from da block)..doesn’t know me from ADAM…..but, she knows a pack. She knows a leader. She knows her place w/in a pack.
It’s hard to describe, unless you’ve been there. Julie can attest to this.
If anyone is wanting a pup from a “V” rated bitch, I can say first hand……..I would recomend Pala.
I have bruises to attest to her drives in bite work!…and my slow-ness.
I don’t even remember where this post started….But, I will once again state the SOUND temperment of Pala…and Julies’ broad bitches. I saw how each were calm and frienldy in her home as well as outside.
When DuKe was off leash, it was like he was “home” again.
How does a brood bitch go from kennel living to a home situation w/o ONE issue?
TEMPERMENT!!! sp?
What is the number one issue that you want in a GSD? You got it…….temperment. Again spelling.
I totally adore Pala. She is ROCK solid! I only wish I had known her earlier. She is full of drive!!!!
So for those of you wanting a pup for Schutzhund or Obedience, or Therapy…….I can only recomend what I see in Pala.
She is (IMO) pretty freaking awesome! π
I adore this girlie. She is the type of GSD I adore, and she has the working drives that I want.
I can oooh and aaah and fuss over her..and brush her, and clean her ears and just make *drama* over her and she SUCKS it up. :-)…so, that makes me…pour it on all the more.
She loves food, and will work for it. π
When I first brought her home, I was ofcourse…worried about letting her off lead. Can you imagine….bringing home one of your breeders brood bitches……….and……….??? Well, we/I took it slow…and Pala was fine. π She is free to roam my 7 acres w/o worry. All you need to do is call her name…and she comes. π
She is a nice sized brood bitch. She is solid as a freaking rock!
I adore this girl…and I hope that folks considering a Show/working pup….will take the time to look at: Pala v Trafalga.
π
Terri……Oh…DuKey likes her too. She has taught him many things.
As I sit here typing this…I look over and see…..Pala and BJ (my Dads’ Bischon) lying side by side….next to me.
I have NO idea where DuKe is???? LOL
We need proof that Pala has gone Swantucky crazy. Please post pictures of her most recent litter…
Carole,
As soon soon as I have time to figure out how to work all of these gadgets…..I will post pictures.
Dad was my IT guy.
Just image if you will……an add for puppy toys from any dog vendor……you will see her “run of the mill” pups.
Thank God…..DuKe had NOTHING to do with this litter!!
I think you need to snd Terri a camera & blog tutorial!!!!
I don’t know Terri, it sounds from this like she has produced some pups with excellent pigment…..nice vibrant coloring. I agree with Carole, we need to see some pics so we can evaluate the structure before any decisions are made. Are you doing Early Neurological Stimulation with them so they get the best start possible? Maybe you could post a video doing that with some of the pups. I would so look forward to seeing how it is done in Swantucky!!!
Ohhhh. Please you guys. You need to trust me on this. Dad was my IT guy…the “gadget guru”. I have all the *stuff*, I just don’t know how to use it. π
Neurolgical stimulation???? OK! π
If proof is necessary, I can get Hank to come over and verify Pala’s soundness. I can also show him her litter.
She is everything that I proclaim. You guys need to trust me on this.
I just wish I would have known her as a youngster. OH, we could have had lots of Fun!
Her drives are Super! Again…bruises to prove it (along with my slowness).
My hope/wish/want is for a pup for Schutzhund. Do I want to be on the “World Team”? Hell No…I’m just your average Terri Blow (JoeBlow). I’m not interested in that. I know my limitations…and what I want in life. I don’t need the podium.
I want a pup that is fun. A pup that wants to have fun with me. One with drives for “the work”.
She(Pala) is V rated..not sure why the V? Except she isn’t Flashy/Showy. Just my opinion.
She is correct in size, she is solid as a freaking brick wall.
Just like that song. π “Brick House” π She is that!
