Today the weather at the agility trial, although cloudy and humid, was much better than yesterday….Aiden was not!
In Open FAST Preferred Aiden started off well and had a super entry into the weave poles but he knocked the first jump in the bonus. As I knew that meant he would not qualify I took the opportunity to “train in the ring.” Yesterday he just barely got a toe in the yellow before jumping off the A-Frame. When he went over it today he jumped off without hitting the contact zone at all. I don’t want this to become a habit in the ring so I had him take another jump and then go back on the A-Frame and made sure he stopped on the contact.

In Open Jumpers Preferred he got a refusal at the weave poles but was still doing well for the first part of the course until he got a little “goofy” and started knocking jumps down!

As Aiden got his Open Standard Preferred title yesterday I moved him into Excellent Standard Preferred today for the first time. In Excellent he must have a clean run to qualify. He did the first six obstacles well but headed for an off course towards the A-Frame. I had to yell to get his attention and then we were both in the wrong position for the next jump and down it came! Again, knowing Aiden had not qualified I made him wait longer at the bottom of the A-Frame to hold his contact. He still missed the entry to the weaves poles!

We all (Jack, me, Dylan and Aiden) still had a fun day out!
You know, Lynda…..sometimes those training opportunities wind up being your most valuable entry fees! Glad you and Aiden had a good time. At the end of the day, Q or not, we go home with the best dogs there. 🙂
Exactly!
He is such a happy guy and fun to watch.
