I must face the spay or not to spay question. I found this article:

It was good news and bad news. I was happy to find an alternative to taking the ovaries and impairing the health of my dog, but sorry to hear that I would still have a crazed sex fiend panting heavily at Ginger’s crate, i.e. Blake. The other problem is finding a vet willing and properly trained to perform the hysterectomy. I would love to hear from anyone who has thoughts (pro’s and con’s) or knows of a vet who has done this procedure. I live in the Detroit area.
My other question is, does anyone know where I can get a life-sized blow up GSD bitch for my poor horny Blake?
The only thing that takes Blake’s mind off of Ginger is his favorite game of pushing one jolly ball around with another jolly ball in mouth.
Poor Blake. I could send Libby for a visit–although he may never approach another woman again. For as agreeable as she is, she does not have a sense of humor when it comes to foolish boys feeling their oats 😉
Blake is definitely his mother’s son! I found in that situation keeping one of the dogs in the car in a crate parked outside or in the garage worked at giving the raging hormones break. Or a good friend that can temporarily take one or the other. Giving the female chlorophyl (you will have to google for more info) helps control the odor.
I have to read the article.
I have found several articles recently about ovariectomy vs ovariohysterectomy, but not hysterectomy. I certainly wouldn’t like that she would still go into estrus and attract the males. That was a big reason why I spayed Ember. Good luck with your decision.
