I took Ember to the UKC Michigan Classic on Saturday and I was very proud of her. I’ve been working on her stacking, gaiting, and standing still in the ring and she did all three very well. (she still kissed the judge in the face) She won Best of Breed in both shows and the second judge had very positive things to say about her. She went on to Best in Show and did not place, but I was still proud of her. Conformation has certainly improved her socialization with other dogs, she didn’t lunge at them and want to play at the show and she sat patiently beside my mom when I left her. She used to lunge and try to knock my mom down trying to get to me. She did, however, get to play with some of Julie’s puppies, which she was thrilled about. She may even have a boyfriend…
It was a tough class she was competing against very mature dogs. Jennifer did an excellent job handling!
Thanks, Julie! 🙂
Hi Julie,
Were any of your pups/dogs entered? How did they do?
Hi Lynda,
I didn’t show any of the dogs. Wish I would have. I saw a GSD that was in the herding group and it was a male, no way in the world could you tell that was a male dog without checking the plumbing. Had that typical over-long-sagging back, and loosey-goosey all over. I had puppies at home and I had just made some trips to Germany so I could not be away very long. So all I did was squeeze in a trip to walk Juno, Jemma, Cabrerra, and Yoyo around. Yoyo is a new one I haven’t told anyone about. I guess the news is out!
Great job, Jennifer. It is not easy to handle your own dog. Too bad you don’t know a good photographer who could have taken a few pictures. 😉
LOL, she was busy with some puppies. So Carole, I have this show on April 25-26. You want to travel from FL and be my photographer for the show? 😉
Ha! I would love to! Keep up the good work with Ember—you are doing a great job.
Congrats Team Ember! Sounds like everyone had a fun day.
Wow, busy day, but sounds like it was fun. Great job on you placing. You are brave to go in and handle your own dog. Keep up the good work.
