Libby passed her therapy dog evaluation on Friday with flying colors and as always she was on her best behavior. Various local TDI chapter members come to watch the evaluations. We were approached by 3 different chapters to see if we would consider joining. 2 expressly were interested in us participating in the tail waggin tutors program where the children read to the dogs. One funny moment during our evaluation occured during the out of site with one of the “milling crowd” people we train with. She waived me back into the room and Libby went like a shot from the man that was holding her to Glenna. It was a wonderful recall. Glenna laughed when I got in the room and said I can tell you have been working diligently on your hand signals 🙂
I chose this photo of her to use for her ID badge because that is how I always see her in my mind.
Awesome! Congratulations
Great job, Libby! Did you certify with TDI? I have Gibbs certified with TDI and I was talking to someone yesterday that certified in TDI as well, and she said that she had to sign a form stating that she wasn’t going to visit children for the first couple of months?? I said that I visit an elementary school and that is pretty much all that I visit, but this person said that she had to sign something stating that she wouldn’t visit children at first. Have you heard of this? Obviously your local chapters are trying to recruit you to visit schools. Thoughts? Again, congratulations Libby!
Yes we will be with TDI once they have finalized her application. No one said anything about not visiting children. The only stipulation I have heard of so far is that a teacher needs to be present anytime the children are with the dogs. They have after school library programs here also which is good for me since I work during the school day hours. I also am considering a local nursing home that really wants therapy animals to visit. I will have to see what fits my schedule, as Z-Evil one also needs quality time with mom.
Maybe she doesn’t know what she’s talking about. 🙂 Are you planning on getting Z-Evil one certified? I can’t imagine getting Ember certified until she calms down, a lot. She won’t stop licking the “judge” in the face in conformation practice when they do the once over. She’s just too excited! We’ll see how this weekends show goes. 😉
Z-Evil one is a bit too lively at this point in her life. Her exuberence sometimes gets the best of her, but she is slowly learning.
Glad to here Ember’s not the only one.
Hear, not here
There’s nothing wrong with kissing the judge! And it certainly beats having a spook on the end of your lead. Judges should appreciate her wonderful temperament.
Thanks, I agree. I certainly appreciate her temperament. I have had several people tell me that she is a lot of dog to handle when I take her to agility practice. I take that as a compliment, because I handle her just fine and am having a lot of fun! She has a lot of potential. 🙂

Good job Lisa and Libby. Libby will make a great Therapy Dog.
Excellent job, Lisa. Congratulations to both of you.
Congratulations Lisa, this makes me so very proud! I love the picture you selected for the ID badge it reminds me of a picture I have her momma Allie. Thank you Lisa and everyone else that works with their puppy’s and dogs to bring out the very best in them. xoxo
Julie, I know the picture you’re talking about and I thought the same thing when I saw this picture load on the post.
Good job Lisa! So funny you have Sweet Libby, always on her best behavior and then Z-evil one.
She needed the Z-evil one to keep her humble!
Z-Evil one has many good qualities too, but chillaxin is not one of them 🙂 Besides, if it weren’t for Ziva how would Libby ever have been able to develop her marvelous babysitting skills??
