I am really excited to announce something new at Alta-Tollhaus!
For nearly 2 decades we have been applying the Early Neurological Stimulation ENS or Biosenser (also referred to as Neo-NatalNeuro stimulation) program with all of our puppies. Many of you have helped us do the neuro-stimulation with the neonate puppies.
We are now expanding the neonatal stimulation to include Early Scent Introduction (ESI), starting with the N-litter Huck x Hummel. It is quite fun and very interesting to watch the neonates use their olfactory perception to explore the world from their whelping box.
The N-litter is now past the neonatal stage, they are now 2.5 weeks, however, I am continuing to offer them the opportunity to exercise their olfactory sensory receptors. Today it was a “Cutie” tangerine. One pup did not like the odor at all, one clearly liked ti right away, the rest sniffed, pulled their nose back for a moment or two and then reached forward and smelled it again this time with more intensity.
It is really fascinating!
Here is an 18 minute long webinar by Gayle Watkins PhD, the breeder who developed the program:

Excellent! I’m a firm believer in Early Neurological Stimulation ENS. Adding ESI to the neonate program is an added jackpot. Say, “A-T Super Pups!”
