Yesterday Aiden was entered in an agility trial at the American Bull Mastiff Agility Trial in Amherst, New Hampshire. On Saturday before heading to NH we intended to go to IPO training. While on the way to training we received a text from the helper who is covering for Mario while Mario is in Brazil. He told us that he was not going to make it to training as there was a surprise snow storm north of Boston. We kept going straight to NH.
.
Since we did not go to IPO Training we had the chance to take the boys for a walk at the Piscataquog River State Park again.
.
Aiden qualified in Novice FAST preferred with a score of 68 and 1st place for his second leg. You will see Aiden refuses to go in the tunnel at first. I thought it was “handler error” as I stopped my forward motion and started to back up as I sent him to the tunnel. Aiden LOVES tunnels so I was surprised he did not go in but as I went to re-send him I could hear a compressor noise coming from behind and above the tunnel area. That is what had bothered Aiden as he thought it was coming from inside the tunnel!
In Novice Standard Agility Preferred Aiden took off too early for the broad jump and his back feet landed on it. He did not qualify.
In his first time in Open Jumpers with Weaves Aiden had a great run but knocked two jumps and did not qualify.
.
As we were at the trial we recorded the New England Patriot’s/Denver Broncos game on DVR to watch when we got home. Unfortunately the outcome for the Patriot’s was not what we were hoping for.
Very nice! That open run was really beautiful! Why do you think he knocked the bars? I know agility people like to analyze everything. 🙂 Sorry about the Patriots. 🙁
You are right…agility people do analyze their runs!
The first half of the Open JWW course was exactly the same as the Excellent course. Aiden did super and I was so pleased with the entry into and speed through the weave poles. So much improved from his first few trials – and he had to do 12 poles in Open.
With the first dropped bar Aiden was heading to an off course jump and I was able to call him off the wrong jump but that put him at wrong angle for the correct jump and he knocked the bar. After he knocked that bar he completed the hard 180 turn. As I knew he had not qualified I tried running the remaining jumps faster than I normally would and I think he knocked the second jump as he was trying to catch up to me.
That is what I figured on that first dropped bar. I am not expert on jumping but his form looks very good to me, and I can tell he enjoys jumping.
Lynda, thanks as always for the video’s. To me the best part was to see how obvious it is that Aiden was having so much fun.
Thanks Patti. Aiden seems to have fun no matter what we are doing! He loves IPO training and agility.
Very nice—Aiden is such a happy guy. Please thank your cameraman for all of the great videos!
I forgot to add that I need to send these snow pictures to some of the people who train with me. And no, I don’t mean Scarlett! “It’s 50 degrees—way too cold to come for training today.”
Too cold in FL???!!
Have your students seen the pictures of us tracking and training outdoors in the wind and snow!!!! LOL!
Keep posting the video’s-love to see them. Aiden looks like such a happy boy all the time.
