I found out last week that my Token probably has nasal cancer and I’m not going to have him in my life much longer. It started with sneezing, progressive difficulty breathing, and swelling of the left side of his nose. An aspirate and nasal flush came back as inflammation, but the x-rays show bone loss, which is suggestive of neoplasia. We have decided not to do a biopsy to find out for sure, because his signs are very suggestive of cancer and I don’t want to put him through it, or radiation. I am enjoying him as long as I am blessed with him in my life, and am just trying to keep him comfortable. He has become even more spoiled, if that was possible.
I am so sorry to hear this. Token is a gorgeous little dog – the Papillons have such energy and presence in small bodies. I applaud your decision to keep Token’s quality of life as your first priority, that is a very brave decision. I will be sending positive thoughts for you (and Token) in the coming weeks. Hugs.
Thank you for your kind thoughts. Token definitely has a big presence in a little body. My oldest brother adores him and has always heralded himself as “not a little dog person”. My whole family loves him and has been affected by this news. I appreciate your positive thoughts.
Well said Jaime. Most of the last ditch effort treatments are for our benefit and not the dogs.
Sorry to hear about Token.
Oh Jennifer,
So sorry to hear this. I said goodbye to my pug a couple of months ago. It’s hard.
Oh no, was it Fergie?? I’m so sorry.
Ditto what Jamie says. Sorry you have to go through this, let’s hope it is a benign neoplasia. Hugs to you and the fur kids.
Hugs to you and Aaron.
Good thoughts for you, Aaron and Token.
