I haven’t posted much here about the fluff monster so, here’s some pictures!
The OCSK Trial and Show in New York was the weekend before NASS. We got a BH & AD title. There’s video evidence of our BH, but… we may have passed and gotten the title, but I think we could have done better. I was a ball of anxiety and nerves and Fenris wanted NOTHING to do with me because of that. I don’t blame him. I wouldn’t want to be near me either when I’m that way. ANYWAY! Pictures! Enjoy.

BH Recall
The AD was actually a really nice ride. It helped that we managed to acquire a treadmill a few months beforehand and that Fenris LOVES it. Seriously, I can send him upstairs and he will walk/run at a nice pace by himself. No leash and no coercion. I’ve actually walked out of the room for a few minutes and he’ll keep himself on.

AD
- Training for the AD = treadmill time!
- {Insert something about hoping there would be more competition at a national show, add something about dog organizational politics and conflicting national events, blah blah blah. I’m going to stop talking about this now.}
- Fenris was the only one in his class at NASS which meant we automatically got a trophy. Woo! It’s a REALLY BIG trophy too. Regardless, we had a nice critique (video is hiding somewhere on my hard drive) and earned SG1.
And now for some random pictures I haven’t put up.
Congratulations to Fenris and his humans! The fluff monster has grown up into such a wonderful, gorgeous, ever-fluffy young dog.
You are being way too hard on yourself — you and your dog did a really difficult thing and succeeded. I am very proud of you guys!
Love the bike photo, and the treadmill. What kind of treadmill do you have? If we ever have room, Batman might like one…
You’re probably right. I just can’t help but grumble about it… at least a little.
What kind of treadmill? Um… it’s a Proform something or other. All I know about it is that it was free, it folds up, the display uses up batteries the same way I go through Nutella, it’s squeaky, and it works.
Depending on how much the Batling weighs, a folding treadmill *might* work. Folding treadmills tend to be less sturdy than their static counterparts.
It would also help if you measure his stride (run him through a puddle of water and measure the distance between pawprints). That way you won’t get a treadmill that’s too short.
A year from now, I bet you will not be grumbling about it, you’ll just think back and remember that you did it!
I think Batman is too big for the folding treadmill. He is pushing 90 lbs, lean. From the back of his neck to the base of his tail, he is 39″ long. He’s just a big, big boy. His stride is probably over 4′ long. I should measure next time we go to the beach.
Anyway, big hugs to you and Fenris! I love his dark mask. Very striking!
Last year I caved and bought a Jog-a-dog, XL. It is very expensive and it is huge, but it is solid and it works well. Some dogs take right to it others take a little to get them used to it, but once they do, they love it.
Congratulations on your wonderful accomplishment. I have been waiting for pictures! Thanks for sharing, your boy is VERY handsome!
What a handsome boy! It looks like you are really having fun with him. Congratulations on your titles!
Congrats! I’m sure he would have won his class even with competition, he’s beautiful and in fabulous condition.
What a great stacked shot! Who was handling Fenris at NASS? Gotta love the hardware you won!
It is so nerve wracking competing with your dog, just getting out there and doing it is huge. You say that Fenris didn’t want to be near you, but you cannot tell it on that fantastic long recall!
Congratulations Presi on all your accomplishments!
Ditto!
Congratulations Presi & Fenris!
Shabaz from OCSK in New York handled Fenris at NASS. It also didn’t hurt that Lin is a great photographer and knows just what to look for when taking photos at shows. I’m glad to finally have such a flattering picture of his stack.
I was thankful that the judge (Helmut Konig) was very accommodating during the BH routine. A few times, he stopped me and told me to be confident while I moved and to relax. It certainly helped going through the last part of the routine.
Shabaz does a nice job.
So many years of experience yet Helmut still understands what it is like starting out and supportive of new people. That is a terrific judge!
Congrats to you and the Fluff Monster. He looks so proud of his big toy. It was great seeing you in Newburg.
Fenris has been a good sensible dog since he was a toddler. I’m very happy and proud of you for continuing his training.
I love the bike shot and the stacked shot. The stacked shot really shows that you have Fenris in beautiful condition. Keep up the good work—I’m sure it will be no time at all before you report back with your IPO1.
Thanks Carole! I honestly can’t imagine *not* training Fenris. He’s so full of energy and there are only so many outlets for it. Plus, we work well together and he seems happy to do it.
We’re very proud of Fenris’s physical condition and we have put a lot of work into keeping him in good shape. His genetics certainly don’t hurt a bit though. 🙂
CONGRATULATIONS!!
A job well done. All of the anticipation of the BH really makes for a stressful situation, but you did it!! Now you are well prepared for the next step. Keep going and I can’t wait to see more pictures.
I just love the picture of the boys sleeping. That is priceless.
