The GSDCA National Herding Test and Trial was held today in Spencer, MA as part of the GSDCA Centennial. A Herding Instinct Test was being offered so we entered Aiden. We have never been to any kind of herding event and even though the herding instinct test was held at the end of the day we arrived early enough to watch some of the other GSD’s work.
The judge gave us a history lesson on herding in Germany and why GSD;s herd the way they do. She had us practice “border” work before going in with the sheep.
Aiden on leash with the sheep
The judge soon had me remove Aiden’s leash
Happy to have qualified
Judge Susan Sullivan presenting me with Aiden’s qualifying ribbon. She wrote on his evaluation form “Very nice young dog! Very Thoughtful!”
Aiden apparently has inherited some herding instinct from Funny
So cool!!!! Congratulations!!! I love that you tried herding. Aiden gets more handsome by the week!
Lynda,
Awesome! I like the judges’ comment “Very Thoughtful”…as evident in the pictures of Aiden working with the sheep.
Congratulations
FANTASTIC!!!
Congratulations!
Wow — is there anything your team can’t do?
Congratulations! Looks like you both had a great time. Aiden always looks like he is enjoying himself regardless of what adventure he is on?
Great news, congratulations. I had planned on taking Ziva and Libby to this, but the tracking trial fell on the same weekend.
So how do you feel about herding?
