Lucy is officially retired from agility because she luxated her patella again and is getting surgery on Thursday. It is bittersweet that we got our C-ATCH two weeks ago and now I can’t do agility with her anymore. I’m just glad that she is still in my life. I will miss competing with her.
Oh Jennifer and Lucy I’m so sorry. Bittersweet indeed.
Let us know how the surgery goes and how Lucy is doing.
Hugs,
Terri
Thanks, Terri, I will. When I started crying after I was told that she had to have surgery again, she put her cheek against my face, as to comfort me. She’s a special girl. I don’t look forward to her having to go through this again, but I’m glad that I will still have her.
Sorry to hear about Lucy. Hope everything goes well.
So sorry she will no longer be able to compete, but glad you still have her in your life.
I hope all goes well for Lucy.
Jennifer, we will say a special prayer for Lucy as she goes through her surgery.
Thank you everyone, for your thoughts and prayers. Lucy saw the orthopedic surgeon yesterday and it was decided that she does not need surgery! She has either sprained her knee and will improve with Rimadyl and rest or partially tore her ACL and will continue to tear it and need surgery at some point. I am praying that she just sprained her knee because after 5 days of being on Rimadyl, she is not limping or holding her leg up at all. The vet couldn’t get any drawer on the knee, which is a good thing, but can’t do a thorough exam on her unless she’s sedated. He couldn’t tell if her patella was luxated since she has so much scar tissue, but doesn’t think it is. He felt that competing in agility with her was very beneficial because it has kept her at a good weight and given her good flexibility in the joint. For now I am trying to keep her from jumping on and off the furniture and resting her. Wish me luck! 🙂
That’s wonderful news that surgery is not required. I wish Lucy a speedy recovery.
Glad things worked out ok and Lucy did not need surgery.
