My student chapter that I am the adviser for is selling a t-shirt to raise money to buy a bullet proof vest for a K-9 police officer at the St. Joseph County Police Department in Indiana. Please help us reach our goal and purchase a t-shirt! The students came up with the idea for the t-shirt, in particular the surgery students. Thank you, Julie, for this great idea! We will be working with Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. Here is the link to the t-shirt.
For those of you that don’t know me, I am a veterinary technology instructor and adviser for SCNAVTA, Student Chapter of the National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America, of South Bend. This student club raises awareness for the profession and raises money for local animal rescues. A recent fundraiser we held raised money for a floor scale for Marshall County Humane Society so they can weigh their animals before they adopt them out (especially to those in apartments with size limits). I thought that raising money for a bullet proof vest for a local K-9 officer would be a great cause that I heard about here on the blog. I understand that many people here on the blog have dogs that are intact. This shirt may not speak to everyone. After talking to people on the blog and Julie, I have changed my views of early spaying/neutering and I talk to my students about educating clients on when they should spay or neuter, and not necessarily at 6 months like it has always been recommended. This t-shirt was designed with the spirit of “hump day” in mind and was something funny said during surgery class this month. Please share the word about this t-shirt and help out a good cause by protecting a K-9 police officer. Thank you!
I hope it is a big success!!!!
🙂
Haha, Jennifer, that is a cute shirt, but I did think as soon as I read it that I would get called out on that if I wore it since Kai’s are proudly on display. Being married to a deputy, I love the police, 2 legs or 4, it doesn’t matter – I want them all to be safe so I hope you sell a bunch.
Maybe you have a friend or family member that it would appeal to more, that you can get it as a gift for? *wink, wink* 🙂
Got mine and shared on Facebook. Hoping my doggie friends will help also. 🙂
Good luck and God Bless your efforts.
DuKe’s Ma, Terri
