Ember started a beginner agility class and her third class was last night. She loves agility and has been doing very well. She is a lot of fun to work with and I look forward to working (playing) with her in the future. For now, I am teaching her to go between the jump uprights and the bars are taken away, and we are doing a 2-by-2 weave technique which teaches her the correct entrance only. Otherwise, she is learning all the other obstacles as normal. Aaron took video of one of her runs last night.
Super-douper! I love the idea of running through the jump posts. I also like the single weave, that is the start of the 2 x 2 method? Will they eventually put the the jump bar between the jump posts only with it laying on the floor? Or is there a reason to have it completely out of position?
Thank you for posting the video!
I’m glad you like the video! I decided to take the bar away because I’ve heard of dogs stepping on it and tearing their ligaments when it rolls on them since there is no way to keep it in place. When she is able, I will put the bar to 4″ so she gets used to jumping over a bar. The 2×2 method for weaves uses two weave poles so you teach them the correct entrance. My instructor told me about it. I can’t wait until next week for the next class! 🙂
She looks like she is having fun! Another Bailey/Gavin agility star in the making
Its so perfect that you got this video so you can go back and see her progress … which, of course, is going to be lightening fast. Thanks for sharing, she looks great!
