The G-litter Gavin x Hummel pups are finally here. This has been a long, long wait. Since Gavin was the sire of this litter and he was right here I did not run any progesterone testing on Hummel. After all male dogs are supposed to be the professors of progesterone. So I did not know exactly when Hummel ovulated but assumed it was near the time Gavin first bred her. So along comes the first due date based on the first breeding, lots of panting, sleepless nights…and nothing. Then the second due date based on the second breeding….repeat…nothing. There were 4 breedings total over a week’s time. Since the first two breeding due dates did not result in puppies on the 9 week day, this tells me that Hummel and GAvin were doing some “practice” breedings.” Practice makes perfect. So finally this morning after yet another sleepless night we have our first puppy born at 4:50 am. A big healthy boy! I am so relieved we have finally gotten started. Watch for more posts.

So far I have been able to call the gender by only seeing the head…of course checked the plumbing to verify. Hummel has more to come!

It has taken 4 servings of ice cream for Hummel to figure out that she should lick the ice cream instead of gulping it down in a couple of bites.
Julie maybe Hummel figures if she eats it real fast you’ll keep filling it up:) That’s Digger’s strategy with the kibble in his kong!
