Singer was entered in an ASCA herding trial. Unfortunately, I had accepted a judging assignment out of town. I had to break the news to Jan that she would now be responsible for handling Singer on the first day of the trial as I would be out of town.
In ASCA you must run all stock (sheep, ducks and cattle) at all levels to earn a championship. This was good for Jan as that meant Singer was going to need to run the started levels with her and it would be easier. Well, when I got back Saturday night all I heard from everyone was how well Jan and Singer did.
She qualified on the first duck run, came in 1st place on the second duck run; 1st place on the first sheep run and qualified on the second sheep run. This meant that Jan put two titles on Singer (STDsd).
The next day everyone was saying that Jan did such a great job that I should of just stayed home and let her do all the work. It started out as if they may have been right. Moving up in class on both sheep and ducks we went to work. We were having a good duck run when they broke for the back fence. As I sent Singer around to gather them up and bring them back they started flapping and running. Unable to control his boredom with ducks Singer just decided to put a stop to all the flapping and grabbed one in his mouth. Of course we were immediately excused. The duck was bloodied but survived. Everyone jumped on that and said “we told you so, should have let Jan do it, she didn’t have any trouble “.
Singer went on to finish 1st place on his next duck run and kudos from the judges. On sheep finishing 1st and 2nd place on the two runs. By the end Singer had three more titles, high scoring dog on sheep two days in a row and an award as the most promising started dog.

Good boy Singer. Off to northern California next weekend. If Singer does well and picks up 5 points he will be an AKC herding champion.
Way to go, Jan!!! It is great that Singer will successfully work for both you and Rich. Congratulations Team Singer!
Singer is jaw-dropping gorgeous! The only thing that would be better than reading these wonderful reports would be seeing it in person.
Thank you so much. Singer does not photograph well. He is actually much more handsome in person and has a personality to match.
Congratulations Team Singer!! Reading about Singer’s Herding Adventures is always a treat … and he is absolutely gorgeous!
If you all keep up these kind of comments Singer will get a complex.
Singer is the herding hunk!!! Congratulations on his most recent accomplishments. Wishing you success for the 5 points to get his herding championship.
WHoo Hooo, congratulations.
