I am still on a high, Koda did everything I thought he would. When you’re training HOT, you get to know your dog’s every move and we can anticipate pretty much how the whole trial is going to go from the start cone.
Here’s some pics from last weekend.
I am retiring Koda from PSA, he will live the rest of his life very much pampered and loved, no more 6 ft 5. decoys hitting him with stick! Just lots of OB at home and fun times. I am also very happy that we ended it on a high note, no injuries to Koda, physically, mentally and emotionally.
As most of you know, PSA is not an easy sport for any dogs, this sport was designed for Belgian Malonois and they are excellent at it. Very few GSD’s can make it in this sport, no GSD has ever gone all the way to achieve a PSA 3 title. I am proud that my showline specifically from Alta-Tollhaus Kennel have tried it and at least got a title! It takes a tremendous dedication from all involved to title a dog and I have nothing but utmost respect to those who works their dogs, rain or shine, in 110 degree heat or -15 temps.
I have decided to spend more time with my son who is still non-verbal at 4. We are trading bite work for karate class or something. I need to focus all my time and energy to help my son in any way or form.
Koda will be just fine…
I am so happy for you. PSA training is so hard core and this is such a tremendous accomplishment. Way to go!
Josie, you have done an OUTSTANDING job with Koda! You picked one of the most difficult sports and kicked ass. You should be very proud of your accomplishments.
Congratulations to you both!
Josie, congratulation on both the hard-won title and your decision to change course from Koda to Andrew. You were brave to tackle both! If you can get Koda thru such a difficult PSA title, I have no doubt that you will succeed in showing Andrew how to cross his hurdle. Good luck!
P.S. This, however, should not stop you from sharing pictures of both…. and yes, I have been slacking too 🙂
Congratulations to you and Koda.
PSA seems way too intense for us based on pictures and videos we have seen.
Good luck with Andrew. I’m sure Koda will be just as happy being Andrew’s best buddy.
I agree with Jack and Lynda too intense for me….i.e. too much work! It is super cool though and I admire your hard work and this super accomplishment!
WOOO WOOOO CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!
I wish I could have been there! Koda looks great and so do you! Actually you look like a teenager.
So proud of you both!
The decoys were scaaarry tall! They were at least 6ft.5 I was afraid Koda would run away!
But Koda held his own and did his thing. I am so proud of him. The Judge said “you don’t see many showlines doing this sport”.. true dat!
PSA is so intense that even though I was in the audience watching the rest of the dogs compete, I was so nervous for them. The thing is, you fail 1 scenario, you’re done. That’s why I love this sport, it keeps you humble as a trainer.
LOL I do not need any help staying humble, especially as a trainer! 🙂
I think those bite photos are quite impressive!
Koda is, and will be, happy being part of the family and doing things with his people, as he always has. XOXO
Congrats on his title. Koda will love being the pool boy. In the videos he was smiling while he was biting and having a good time, but I think the is the kind of dog that has a good time no matter what he is doing as long as he is with his people. Don’t let Lola spoil him too much!!!!
Zeta says “Way to go Bro!”
Congratulations Josie, you and Koda kicked butt!! You have done such amazing work with Koda, but there is not a doubt in my mind that he would happily choose to do whatever it takes to help his boy. You’re a great mom, Josie to all your two-legged and four-legged kids … now just don’t forget about our updates:) GREAT Job!!! xo
Josie, Saw this today. Koda looks as beautiful as ever and I am so glad to see him get titled. Great job to the both of you! My husband and were so fortunate to meet you both in person!
