Kristin and I took our usual Memorial Day Vacation over in Canada where the campgrounds are nearly empty due to the fact their holiday weekend is the one before ours. This gave Vander plenty of room to stretch his legs!
I am quite certain he’s thinking that the only thing he’s missing is a cape.
Yes indeed, plenty of space…
“Hey! Look what I found!”
Full power decent!!
A scientific mind…trying to decide if it is harder running on sand or through water!
Honestly, I could not decide which I liked better, this pic or the previous. So I put in both. I think the previous shows more power but this one captures him with all 4 paws off the ground/water!
“Naturally dada, I need a stick for the walk back to the campsite.”
And one quiet after-action portrait. 🙂
The rest of the pics I took are at this link… http://brian-case.smugmug.com/Travel/Memorial-Day-at-the-Pinery/29677870_rvhhJr#!i=2540766746&k=nNzRSHh
Overall, it was a great time, other than being very cold at night. I just wish I had some dunes in my backyard! They are thee fastest and must fun doggy energy draining devices on Earth. 3 trips up and down the dunes = 1hour walk. 🙂
Brian and Kristin,
What awesome pictures! We looked at all of them on your link and there were so many super ones.
There is sure a lot of space for Vander to romp and play.
I love the title Brian! What fun for all of you! I have seriously thought about how to put in a sand dune or a sand run or some type, really good for their feet and pasterns. If you engineering mind comes up with a way to do it please let me know!
Thank you for sharing the fantastic pictures.
Love the photo’s, thanks for sharing them.
Lucky Vander!
Awesome pictures. What a fun trip! Vander looks fantastic.
Thanks for all the compliments!
@Julie
With all the space you have, it would not be too hard. You basically would need to have a bulldozer cut and level an area about 10ft wide by 50-100 feet long at about 12 inches deep. Cover the bottom of the run in plastic and then fill with sand. For 50 feet at 12 inches you would need roughly 20 cubic yards of sand. Play quality sand runs about $30-80 per cubic yard + shipping. You could then sink a pole at each end to run a dog-run. Unless you think you could convince your dog to stay on the run itself. All it takes is money! 🙂
As for a dune… very unlikely. It would take waaay more sand than you would want to truck in and then the wind would eventually just blow it totally flat. 🙂
Too much fun!! We have a jeep and Roman loves to go off roading with us 😉
