We did NADAC agility Friday and Saturday in Joliet, IL. Bailey got to run two rounds of novice regular each day. I thought NADAC would be good for her because of the low A frame (she can’t quite stick 2 on/2 off on a full height A frame yet), the lower jump height (more confidence over low jumps) and the lack of a teeter (not ready for a full height teeter yet). I have been very pleased with her work on contacts and weaves so was anxious to show her to see how she’d do away from home. On Thursday before the trial I remembered that novice typically has contact/tunnel discriminations, so quickly worked on that- I was pleasantly surprised to find that she had some decent verbal recognition of the obstacles and was very responsive to my body language.
The first round on Friday went great with nice contacts and weaves, but she ran by the dog walk on the first attempt, which gave her a good view of an off course option, which she then took. no biggie- I was thrilled with her work! no video- it was raining.
In the second round it wasn’t actively raining so I asked someone to tape her run:
She was awesome again (check out those weaves!!!), and nailed a tough discrimination (the tunnel was right up against the dog walk- I was pleasantly surprised to have her get it right). We had one run by, which I took my time fixing to help her get the rest of it right. I assumed we were overtime because of how long I took to fix the run by, but we were not and earned her first ever agility Q! Go Bailey!
Today we ran our first run late in the afternoon and she was awesome, earning her second Q with no issues at all. her time was just over 4 yards per second, which is quite respectable. Her focus was a bit off in the second run and we failed the dog walk/tunnel discrimination, so no Q there.
I am so thrilled with this girl’s progress!
Very nice work! Good job Bailey. Congrats to you.
Congratulations Charlene and Bailey!!! Super to see the video. Bailey is doing so well – Great job at her first trial.
Congrats! What a great job!
Wish we could have been there to see you!
Cathy & Bernie are friends of ours and they run a really nice smaller show at their place.
Hope you have a great show on Sunday! Baily looks super!
we didn’t enter Sunday- we leave on a week long vacation today, so Bailey is back with Julie.
we will have another try in two weeks, assuming she stays out of season.
What a lovely run!
WOW! You have made so much progress in just a few months time. I loved the crowd reaction to her weaves. I am so proud of Bailey and so amazed with you Charlene and your training skills! You are bringing the best out of Bailey.
Wow—super job, Charlene & Bailey! The Big Z says, “Way to go, Mom!”
That’s my Mom out there, only 6 months after we were born. Way to go Mom-keep it up.
