Here are the rest of the pictures from Batman’s journey to Dog Mountain, and all over Vermont. We went hiking and swimming everyday. He was in heaven! Apologies in advance for the volume of pictures — Vermont is so beautiful, and we did so many different things, I just wanted to share it ALL with you. I had a hard time editing.
First, can you spot Batman in the picture below?
We went to Dog Chapel in remembrance of our friends. It was an incredibly moving experience, it felt like a pilgrimage for dog owners saying goodbye. I was moved to tears, looking at the beautiful windows, carved pews, and the altar of dog statues in the sanctum of the chapel. Truly no detail had been overlooked.
Then I noticed, wait a sec, one of the statues is moving!
What a silly boy. He sniffed all their butts, ingratiating himself with the pack.
After paying our respects, we explored the beautiful landscape of Dog Mountain.
Of course, Batman went straight for a puddle before noticing the two ponds on either side of the path.
“Now THIS is a puddle!”
“Is this heaven? This is heaven, right?”
The next day, we went hiking at Mt. Ascutney State Park. It was gorgeous up there.
At the base of Windsor Trail.
The next day, we tried dock diving at the Brattleboro Marina. Batman didn’t dock dive so much as dock PLOP. Oh well, we still had a great time.
“Are you gonna throw that ball, or what?”
Batman, resting his chin on his ChuckIt ball, can you see it under his massive neck?
On the lookout for water squirrels.
Finally, here’s the view from the summit of Mt. Ascutney, taken with my iPhone.
Just gorgeous.
Jennie,
Gorgeous pictures but mostly…….gorgeous Batman.
He has turned out to be one hunk of a dog.
U-Rock sends hugs.
thank you, Orly! can you believe it’s almost been one year since this adventure began?! Batman sends lots of love to his litter twin, U-Rock!
Beautiful pictures Jennie, I just have to laugh at Batman, he looks so happy and goofy, he reminds me so much of Gavin. 🙂
That makes me so happy to hear. Can you believe Batman came out of Gavin’s first litter? What a great start! All the U-litter males turned out so handsome and lovable, with a strong work ethic, just like their daddy.
The picture of Batman with his paws on the dock cracks me up! He is showing the classic GSD I’m-not-on-guard-duty-at-the-moment, carefree, goofy kind of expression–an expression all of us who love and adore our GSDs have likely seen many times! Love it!
Jil, you said it!
Great stuff Jennie! I love the picture of him in the pond where all you can see is his head. He is looking a lot like his brother Max!
Jennie,
NEVER apologize for the number of pictures. I’m sure most everyone will agree with me…..the more pictures the better. This is a super post.
Batman looks like he had a great time on his Vermont adventure. Swimming, hiking, dock diving, sleeping on the bed….. what a lucky boy.
I thought you were going to post a lot of pictures? You and your silly boy just crack me up. Batman was just making certain that the GSD was represented in the group dog pix.
What an awesome place! Thank you so much for finding Dog Mountain and for sharing your Vermont adventure with us.
This makes up for Hawaii for him. 😉
Yes, I think Jennie did good and more then made up for Hawaii.
Jennie:What beautiful pictures. Never too much, they are great. What happened to “puppy” Batman? He has matured into such a handsome boy. How lucky is he to have you to share life with. Thanks for taking us along just a bit.
What a card he is! He thinks he is a star! Wait, he is. I enjoyed these so much. Thanks for sharing.
Post all the pictures you want!!! Please!
Batty with the dog statues is just too cute. I agree with all the comments made so far on your post. Batty looks grrrrreat!
What a wonderful awesomesauce trip for Batty!! He looks FAB FAB FAB! I love his sense of humor.
More pics the better!
I’m with Carole – I was expecting page after page of photographs! They ended all too soon! What a beautiful trip. Batman is so study! Is thatbreallyna word? I think not, but you know what I mean!
