Last Saturday, a veritable army descended on Julie’s place to offer their sympathies and their help. If you can measure your worth by how many friends come to help when you need it, then Julie is worth a whole lot.
More came out on Sunday morning as well, and many of us had to go to Gustavo’s for training, including me. So I didn’t get any pics of Sunday’s crew… my apologies. I am dividing this into two posts since there is so much to cover. Some photos were taken with my cell phone, some with my stock lens, all on a cloudy day, so please excuse the quality.
So a few people showed up at Julie’s to help out.
…then a few more…
…then even more…
…and more…
…and even more. I never thought I would see the day where finding a place to park at Julie’s would be an issue.
Some kennels were set up in the back. These haven’t been covered yet.
The inside kennels were completely removed and given a thorough cleaning.
Big Al helps muscle the kennels around so they can be pressure washed. Karen was supervising us.
The entire 3 car garage was emptied out, swept, scrubbed and had shelving units installed for all of the dog supplies.
Scott’s kids even came to help out. Everyone works for their lunch… no exceptions.
Speaking of lunch, so many people brought out so much great food. No one here was going hungry, that’s for sure.
The Alta-Tollhaus Army chowing down.
To be continued…
That is so awesome, it speaks volumes on the charachter of a person that has so many friends, Julie I was there in spirit, and so happy to see the help from your friends, just awesome!!!! Hugs to everyone that helped out. 🙂
Again, I am in tears.
This is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. Thank you everybody for helping out Julie.
Ditto. What a beautiful display of support. Y’all are, as Josie would say, awesomesauce.
I completely agree with Josie (and Lorie). How emotional and touching to see these pictures. I can only imagine being there and seeing car after car arriving to help. Thanks so much Lee for your updates and photos. I wish I could have been there to help and meet all of you.
Great idea to bring your camera and record the weekend – but wait a minute – break for lunch? I think I must have missed that part!!
Joking aside, we accomplished so much in such a short space of time. It was truly wonderful to see everyone come together with such a positive “lets get this done” attitude.
A huge shout out thank you needs to go to Jackie for being so supportive of Julie and helping to organise all this.
Julie you are a superstar for holding it all together! We all love you so much!
Andrea you missed the most delicious shepherd pie that was made by someone who grew-up in England. Couldn’t have been better…maybe you should get her recipe? 🙂
Rumor was that you were the ultimate task master.
Do you have her number by chance???
“Ultimate task master” who me? Has Matt been crying on your shoulder???
Andrea and Jackie were great. I’m just sorry I didn’t get a photo of Andrea after she had pressure washed the inside kennels. She was soaked head to toe. It reminded me of Brody when he comes out of the pond at Gustavo’s…
Lee you are so stealthy with that camera of yours.
Several of the pictures you can see the damage to the trees from the fire. The 7th picture you can see how the vinyl siding at the house buckled and melted.
Thank you Jackie and Lee for coordinating this amazing show of support. Everyone worked their butts off. It was amazing. Thank you so very much to everyone. With all the love I have been given it has enabled me to be strong and as Andrea said “hold it together.”
All the people who worked on Saturday when we were there, worked their butts off non stop. You certainly didn’t see anyone just standing around that’s for sure. The amount of work the crew accomplished was amazing, and they all worked together side by side.
I do have to say that there are still caring people in this world out there, as Julie had a couple of them show up to work that she had never met before, that says a lot right there! Just when you lose hope that there are good caring people out there something like this happens and renews that faith in people.
Karen, exactly.
This is such an amazing show of support for a very special person and her family. Julie, I am thinking of you each and everyday. I just pray that it will get a little bit easier for you. Just know that you and your dogs have touched so many lives and they will forever be loved and live on in their beautiful puppies. Anja has touched our entire family in unimaginable ways. We love her SO much, and for that I say thank you to you and her amazing mom Maika! Sending our love, thoughts and prayers! Anja sends lots of her snuggles and kisses XO
Truly an amazing and supportive family—thank you all so much for being there for Julie.
Andrea, you must have been very naughty that you got stuck with pressure washing.
Actually I quite enjoyed myself. It was rather satisfying.
Lee,
Thank you so much for taking and sharing these pictures with all of us who could not be there in person to help. We were thinking about you all. What a great turnout to support Julie. Looks like Jackie did a super job getting the word out about the weekend project.
There absolutely is no better crowd than the AT family. So glad that you have such great support both near and far. Hang in there.
What an awesome turn out to support Julie and the Alta-Tollhaus family.
