This is GREAT obedience training! It is hard for some people to grasp this concept in dog training—especially those who have done nothing but AKC-type work. This is the type of training that will build a good, solid foundation for ANY venue of work.
Great job, Momma Michelle!

Carole: You are so right about what a great way this is to train. I had spent 30 some years in the AKC type of training (conformation and obedience) and I am now learning this new to me training, thanks to Julie and Gustavo, and all the great inspiration of others through this blog. I really cringe at how we did things, and for the poor dogs who so often were at the end of the choke collar correction.
Yep, at first it seems like a lot of tugging/playing. Then all of the pieces fall together and you see the final result—a true working machine that will do ANYTHING for you.
Gustavo says that it should be 70% play to 30% work. All of those deposits that you are putting into the puppy bank truly pay off.
Patti, this is a giant leap above our old training methods! Even works better than the “bribe them with food” method—although, I will also use food – just not constantly.
