OK, after months of looking at pictures of shep in the water, in the ocean, in pools, I finally have to ask. How do you get a GSD to LIKE water. Mine won’t even go out to pee if there is dew on the grass!
“EWWWWW my feet will get wet – I can’t go out there!!!”
It is a curse when you have on clean clothes and are headed out the door but first let the dog out for a quick pee. Dog must play in every puddle—change of clothes required.
Or when a certain dog says that there is water three feet below and then digs and wallows in the new-found spa just to prove she was right.
Oh my Gosh, those are such cute photos!!! He is adorable, I think I want a long coat puppy!

That face Fenris is making as he’s biting the stream of water…
J. makes that EXACT same face when I spray him with the shower head. Snapping teeth and everything. Now I just need to get a picture of it so there can be a side-by-side comparison between him and Fenris.
Great photos.
I love dogs who like the water and years ago did not know that GSD’s were such water dogs. Kelsey was WAY more of a water and retrieving dog than Dylan!! And we all know the AT dogs love water.

It’s in the genes!
I should add….at times the German Water dog gene can be a curse.
Yeah, particularly when a certain dog pulled an irrigation drip system off my fence while it was on! :O
