Batman and I are taking our usual morning walk. It’s about 6am, chilly and raining. We’re making our way down a hillside for a good game of fetch, when I lose my footing on the slick grass, and slip and fall right on my butt, sliding down the hill a few feet before I skid to a stop.
Batman is about 2 feet away from me the whole time, staring at me quizzically, like this:
As I gingerly ease myself up, Batman looks at me with great interest, and sniffs my backside (pretty sure the real Batman wouldn’t do this).
He then sniffs the ground, the grass flattened by the impact of my fall.
He then proceeds to fling himself down on the exact spot where I fell, and rolls his whole body gleefully in it, like this:
I guess he thought, “If mom rolled herself on this spot, then I should too! Probably something really good and stinky down here!”
He rolled himself in it for a good minute before he was ready to go. I laughed so hard, I forgot how much my butt hurt. Funny how that works.
Thank you, Julie, for my big goofy puppy.
Fantastic story! Thanks for sharing. How did u get Batman to reenact the moments in the photos. Secondly isn’t DC pretty flat we’re u running around g-town?
Ha! Batman reenacts this story on his own all the time. Those last photos are actually from a few weeks ago. He is just a gleeful, rolling dog!
We live near a field that you have to walk down a slight hillside to get to. It’s not a true hill, but couldn’t think of a better word to describe it.
Jennie,
Your Batman episodes are always great. Love your hilarious story telling. Super to have the pictures to go along with the words!
Too funny – you and Carole must have gone to the same “story telling school”!
Jennie,
Funny story, as always. Batman looks so grown up… love his batty ears… I guess he’ll never lose them and you picked the right name for him. What a goofball he is!
Look at it this way:
It could have been a lot worse. Batman could have been sniffing your backside because you rolled in poop! LOLOL
You and Batman are quite the pair!
Oh, I LOVE that quizzical look! They are just great big Play-Babies! Battie really liked that game of yours, and couldn’t resist trying it, too. And, I adore his ears. They are magnificent! Everything about him is so beautiful, inside and out. What a great personality (which, of course, reflects his masterful training and loving home)!
Great story and photos as always Jennie! I love the last one especially. The ears laid back, wild eyed smile…
LOLOL too funny!!!! Batty must be so thrilled to have a mum that does dog stuff. I love the “re-enactment” photos.
Too funnty! I just love Batman’s diaries.
I think Jennie should make an animated Batdog Comic Book series, you already have the perfect dog! 🙂
I love a goofy shepherd..When Roman rolls on something I tell him he’s getting his ‘Stink Power”. Obviously, you both got your stink power on that day!
Totally hilarious! Batman is such a character!
