The plans for this ladder were found on Instant Agility – very cool site!

I went out this morning to take some closeups of the ladder:
Fenris said, “Now wait a minute—that is very boring!” “Let me show them how it’s done.” So without any cues from me, he walked through the ladder.
“And if this is for hind-end awareness, then they need to see my behind.” And he turned around and walked through the other way.
“While we’re at it, you should show them some other stuff too.” And off he went…
There was no point in arguing with him. He is a very smart boy and lord knows he has his own opinion. Just ask Susan and Barb!
“Hey! This plank is FLAWED!”
“Carole said that I’m not supposed to do the teeter on my own. Big deal—blah, blah, blah!”
He did all of this without any prompting from me. I only went out to take a couple pix of the ladder. Fenris had other ideas. Thank you, Fenris.
This is the base for the mini-teeter.
The ladder has a zillion pieces and cuts. If you would like to use the ladder and don’t have the proper saw to make all the cuts, I can do it for you and send you the pieces!
WHO is Fenris going to after finishing Camp Carole…..I mean Kalya! LOL! This little guy is gonna be a natural! I hope his new family is into agility!
Hey Carole……way to get “your Martha on”!!!!! 😉
*raises hand* That would be me. The current plan is to put Fenris into schutzhund training but honestly, I’m all for anything that will keep him physically and mentally exercised.
You & Fenris would LOVE it! And it can help improve his dexterity and athleticism!
Good luck with Fenris! He looks like a beautiful pup! 🙂
Presi is a great addition to our family! I think she’s game for anything. Sort of reminds me of Jennie (yikes!!).
I use the equipment to develop balance and build confidence—all of which is required for SchH, eh, IPO. (Who ever came up with IPO? None of us can pronounce it!)
We went with some friends to a Schutzhund trial last Saturday and asked the German Judge what it stood for and HE even had a hard time with it!!! LOL It’s French right?
I love Fenris! What a clever little pup.
Thanks for posting this, Carole. I am making that ladder. I have an electric saw that cuts through PVC pretty well. Since I’m not traveling this week, it will be a good project for me!
Jennie, you can totally make this ladder! However, save yourself from saying many, many bad words and don’t glue the thing together until it is completely assembled. On the beginning assembly I accidentally glued two incorrect pieces together. No big deal—just make another couple cuts. However, it was on the final stage where one joint slightly twisted and that was my downfall. I glued the damn thing like you are supposed to for pvc. There was no way in hell to budge the joint. I would have had to scrap an entire side and rebuild half the ladder or leave as is. I didn’t feel like another trip to Home Depot, so left it as is.
When pvc cement is applied to both pipe and fitting the application is as good as a weld. Just pvc cement around the joint is not as solid, but on my test model seems very strong. I will check if there is a better glue to use other than pvc cement to apply to the outside joints.
Actually, I’m not even certain if glue of any kind is required! If your pvc connections are snug, the ladder will hold together. There is no weight-bearing load put on the ladder.
PS – I also have colored duct tape to band the foot rails but haven’t done so yet!
Love this series of photos. What a good little demo model Fenris is.
