We took Oso for a ride in the car today and he sat in the back by himself. He does not fit on my lap anymore.
We went for a long walk in the cemetary until it started to rain with lightening. He barked at some of the flower arrangements until he figured out they were harmless. He has a long walk every day but we had not taken him there before.
Then we took him to the vet for some heartworm medication and he weighed 39 pounds. I don’t know if this is a lot or not but I cannot pick him up any more. They really enjoyed him at the vets and kept him in the back all taking turns giving him treats. Oso had a fun day and so did we – a dog adds so much to your life. Everyone talks about how handsome he is and you would think I had something to do with it I am so proud. Really Julie has the most to do with it, thank you Julie.
Oso’s a big boy! And, yes, we all have Julie to thank for our beautiful GSD’S – they are the best!
You need to thank God for these wonderful companions!
Oso had BIG DOG stamped on his forehead when he was born.
Awww..they grow so fast. I think I could only hold Roman for 2 days!!
Okay, so it’s not just me?? I thought maybe Julie sent us a defective dog… we received this cute little package of a fluffy puppy who has since grown into a giant! I thought he was going to stay the size he was when he got here. That’s not the case. And I fear there’s no sign of the growth stopping any time in the near future!! It’s only made worse by Karen’s incessant need to educate us on the best quality foods to feed our companions thus keeping them healthy and steadily growing. It’s a conspiracy to populate loving homes with healthy, gigantor GSD’s! I’d picket, but WTRanger would just grab the stick from my picket and run off with it…
Do you know how much Ranger weighs?
I am not sure, Kelli. A couple weeks ago I think it was 21 or 22 pounds. I’ll have to weigh him tomorrow and let you know.
Thank you, Kristen, I would like to know. It seems like he just cannot get enough food lately but is looking thin so I think he is going to have a growth spurt. I just wondered if you were having the same thing.
WTRanger just had a growth spurt a couple days ago. He does get skinny then fills in a bit then the cycle continues. After this last growth spurt it seems his chest and hips have gotten bigger. His body looks completely different from what it looked like a few days ago. WTRanger has never been able to get enough food. I sometimes wonder if he’d eat until he explodes if he was given the chance.
I weighed WTRanger this morning on my bathroom scale while I held him. He would appear to be 32 pounds. The good news is he did not successfully gnaw off my arm while I held him. Typing with my remaining 4 fingers is a bit challenging though….
Thank you for your disabling sacrifice on my account. I am worried because he looks so thin sometimes so your description helps me a lot. It sounds just like Oso and his stages.
Batman was 42 lbs at 15 weeks, and 46 lbs at 18 weeks. Last Tues, at 24 weeks, he was 58 lbs. We’ll see how much he weighs tomorrow at almost 25 weeks (there’s a scale at the training facility). Batman had some weeks where he gained 3-4 lbs, and others where he was flat. It sounds like Oso is having similar growth spurts.
The best way to gauge how big he’ll get is to look at the parents. Based on Mister Gavin and Lady Zucca, Batty will probably top-out in the upper 80s. But we’ll see! Everyday is an adventure with these pups.
Enjoy Oso’s puppyhood while it lasts! Batman has grown so much in the last two months, I miss the 40-lb puppy stage!
Heck, I miss the sack-of-potatoes puppy stage!
