Y-litter day 2. All the puppies now have pink collars or blue collars. They are paper collars with their birth order and weights written on the collar. Can you tell this was done by Tiffany the ICU RN? By the way I did not put the male puppy up on top of the other puppies, that was all his doing.

Very neat job Tiffany.
We used to use these type of collars for the cats and kittens at the animal shelter to make it easy for adopters to know the sex of the felines……pink for girls, blue for boys of course!!

Tiffany is the most organized one in the family. 😉 What a pile of puppies! Welcome home, Julie.

Allie looks like such a wonderful mother. How exhausted she must be!

Julie, you made a huge personal sacrifice, traveling over the holiday and buying a sandwich at a gas station for your XMAS dinner – this “Franco” must be quite a dog! What factors most influenced your selection? I mean, besides that fact that Allie fell in love with him at first sight?

Beverly,

There are many factors that going into the process of looking for a stud dog. Bloodlines, motherlines, anatomy, character, drives, etc.
I always start with character without correct temperament and character you have nothing. What do you want to see corrected by this breeding? Look for a male that is strong in those areas and ideally were the male has weaknesses they will be were your female is strong.

I was just talking to another breeder today and he told me he was breeding to this one particular male and I questioned the character of this male. He acknowledged the character was only ok but his female was absolutely correct. If we are talking about croups then fine, but not when talking of character. In my opinion you always need to bred correct to correct in this area.

Anatomically Franco and Allie are perfect compliments to each other. Where one needs improvement the other is strong or they are both strong. No doubling up on any area needing improvement.

I also know the bloodline works with Allie. So the breeding is good phenotypically and genotypically.

Thanks for asking!

They look great! I’m glad to hear Allie is doing well. HK is the only “commercial” food I ever use to supplement the raw diet. Is it time for the scrambled egg photos yet?

Lee, I am using your method with some of my dogs raw or kibble with some Honest Kitchen added to it.
