I forgot the camera when we took Oso on his first off leash walk today. We are fortunate to live in a community with a 3 mile common area that used to be part of the Erie Canal. The canal area is behind the property with a large field behind us and no way to get to any cars. There we hundreds of geese eating corn in the field beyound us. Oso was very interested in the geese sounds and the train with the whistle. Next time I will take photos so you can see what it is like, almost rural.
The first photo is Dan sleeping in his chair after the walk. The next is Oso who is only able to play half heartedly after the big walk. Oso slept for two hours after the walk and Dan only slept 1/2 hour.
Don’t worry Julie we only took Oso for about 1/2 mile because we did not want to carry him.
Nah, never too old. Look at the excercise you will be getting also.
Lord I hope not since you are younger then I am! I took Willa for her first walk through the fields and woods today along with Maika, Gavin, and Funny. Willa is crashed. That second picture is funny…maybe a walk everyday is what is needed. Have you started with Kim yet?
We want to start with Kim but have not heard back. Do you think she is ok, I am kind of worrried about her.
Gosh, are you in NY state? I saw the Erie canal reference. I am in a suburb 20 miles east of Rochester.
The Erie canal also ran through Fort Wayne Indiana. I do not know where it started and ended.
My Dad lives in Marion, NY and my Mom lives in Newark. Where are you at Lisa? I don’t know the area that well since I’ve never actually lived there, but I’ve heard my parents mention lots of the towns in the area.
I agree with Karen. We are never too old for a GSD. Besides, they like taking naps too. 😉
It’s just like when the kids were young. I have a picture of my husband and our son (5 at the time), both lying comatose together on the sofa after an hour of play time together, just like Dan and Oso, and we were in our 20’s then!
Oso looks HUGE! Imagine how tired Dan would have been if he had had to carry Oso back!
We have our relatives and their dogs as house guests this weekend. Yesterday, after running around outside together, we all came in to relax. Dutch kept squeezing into Scruffy’s (a Shih Tzu) little crate, where he was barely able to turn around. Whenever Dutch started yapping at Scruffy, old man Beaumont would walk over and yell at them both with a deep roar, they’d stop, and he’d go back to his bed. Such a good grandfather. Finally, they all fell into deep sleep while we had dinner. Music playing, pots and pans clanging, laughter…they slept through it all!
Sounds like a wonderful day, Bev. Dutch is acclimating well to your household. I love the crate story.
Oh Beverly, you paint such a great picture! Sounds like a fantastic weekend with family!
Too funny. Dan looks so tired!
