Nikon and Pan are both making great progress! Tuesday was only Nikon’s ninth flyball lesson. He is now consistently catching the ball running the entire sequence. He ran against a super-fast Border Collie and it actually made him faster, being able to race even if he won’t win.
Pan is somewhat of a flyball prodigy considering his size/breed. Here he is running against a dog that’s been doing flyball for over a year (this was Pan’s eighth lesson, starting October 2011) and if it weren’t for my reaction being slow to release him, he’d be consistently as fast if not faster. I’m actually planning to use his box turn to train his Schutzhund retrieve.
Really cool Lies. Looks like he is flattening out his jumps just a little bit?
Those were great! Love seeing both of them in action! Pan looks especially fast and looks like he’s really digging it!
It’s a great outlet for Pan because he is raw speed and drive. He sees a ball at one end and a tug at the other….the actual sequence is just a formality to him. Nikon is more of a thinker, better suited for something like agility with a course, or herding because it requires decisions and instinct. But he still has a blast at flyball and it’s great exercise for everyone! I always feel like I’ve been run over by a bus.
Go, go, go boys! Nice job, Lies :~)
