Jennie, I am SO excited for you! You must be over the moon!
And Auntie Carole did a GREAT job for you with the Batling’s foundation! 😉
Karen, he is the nicest puppy in the history of puppies, in my completely biased opinion. Carole did more for him than I ever could have imagined. We are so grateful!

Finally…. I’ve been waiting for these pictures all weekend long.
What a great reunion & Jennie, looks like Batman remembered you immediately, as evidenced by the BIG licky kiss he gave you in the 1st picture.
Glad you are home safe… enjoy… & post pictures soon!
We’re home already! You were right (again), the drive is really not so bad. We stopped in Savannah for dinner, and took rest stops in SC and NC. It was kind of fun!

Thank you, Carole! I have to share the videos soon to show the family what you’ve done with this puppy. I’m uploading them now.
And thank you to Aunties Barb and Susan, and John and Michelle, for helping socialize and train Batman. Once again, it takes a village to raise a puppy. Julie, you will not believe how cool this puppy is! He is the best.
After a verrry long car ride, the Batman is home! He did great, just slept like a baby or chewed on that old Nyla-ring thing for the whole 13+ hours. I took him for a walk around the block before introducing him to the condo. He whined in his crate for a few minutes, then fell asleep. No accidents in the house, car or hotel. I think I’m being overly paranoid about pottying him — he is very good about telling me when he needs to go!
I have him tethered around my wait on a 6′ lead when he’s not in the crate. I think the 6′ lead is too long though. What do you all think? I’m very thankful to Batman already for helping me improve my housekeeping skills. He likes to point out (with his teeth) ALL the things I leave on the floor. The x-pen is supposed to get here today. We put down rubber tiles, the kind you use under gym equipment, on the floor under the x-pen and also under his crate. We hope this will protect the hardwood and make it easier to clean up any messes.
He is going to be very popular around the neighborhood, I can already tell. I didn’t let him greet anyone I didn’t know today, just because he was being over-stimulated enough with the new environment and I didn’t want to distract him further.
One issue I need help with: He gets very distracted by other dogs. I didn’t let him play with any because I didn’t know their owners, and I wanted him to engage mainly with me. When he got distracted by another dog (pulling on his lead towards them), I would stay planted and wait until he looked at me, then I gave him a treat. Sometimes I had to wait for a few minutes. Carole, is there anything else you recommend I do? I want him to be curious about other dogs, but not to pull me down the block for one.
He has never been so distracted that he doesn’t want to work though. I carry the squirrel on a stick in a cheap yoga bag that I wear strapped across my back. It took him about 2 seconds to figure out what’s in that yoga bag. Very little fools him.
I started him on Honest Kitchen “Love” (beef) today, along with a raw egg, vitamin mix and salmon oil. He loved it! He licked the bowl clean. The only thing he left behind was the egg shell. I will crush it up first next time.
OK, that’s all for now. I actually didn’t know you could write this much in a comment, did you? I have pics and video to share from the weekend and today — I will do it as soon as I have a free arm. Having a puppy is a LOT of work (my new motto is CONSTANT VIGILANCE!), but so worth it.
Umbilical cord – use the 6′ lead, but shorten it so that he has room to sit or lie down. You don’t want it so long that it gets tangled and/or he trips you.
Potty – he will pee as soon as you take him out. Always take him to the same area and tell him to go potty. After your walk, he will finish as he started. Take him to his selected area and tell him to potty and he will pee again before going inside.
Dog distraction – he’s only met friendly dogs and he thinks dogs and people are there to greet him. Be proactive. When you see dogs coming, have the squirrel or VERY tasty food and get his attention BEFORE the dogs get close. He knows not to drag you down the street!
It sounds like you are doing great with him! Keep up the good work.

Jennie,
I love the picture of the “Bat-kiss”! Barb and I call them “chompie kisses” because they always sneak in a little nibble with their kisses. Glad to hear that all are safe at home. I had so much fun playing with Batman and I’m really going to miss him. He is such a lucky pup to have such wonderful and caring people as his parents. Can’t wait to see more pictures.

Lorie, you know he gets it from Gavin, the focus and the looks, plus he has Zucca’s laid-back personality. This is my dream puppy.
