I have Pet Plan Gold for Gavin, if you go to their website it shows you the different plans you can have, plus you pretty much determine your deductable and monthly payment, I think it’s the best company of all the pet insurance companies . I pay 46.00 a month for Gavin which covers him if he were to need just about anything surgically. I’ve had him insured since he was 9 weeks old.
I had a great conversation with my friend Judy who is a Golden Retriever breeder. she said absolutely you should take out pet insurance. She is going to get the names of the best plans from her daughter who works at a DVM practice and will be posting those names.

I used VPI for my dog. I purchased the premium plan that gave “complete coverage” I quickly found out that they only pay a small portion of the cost of procedures and medications. They will tell you they cover everything, but they don’t disclose how much they cover until you submit the bills. So a $300 surgery was covered, BUT they reimbursed only $35. I kept the insurance for a little over a year, but got frustrated arguing with the company about their set coverage rates. I would have been better off putting the monthly payment in my own piggy bank and saving for the vet myself.
