Over the holidays, my husband and I are staying at our Florida condo. Visiting from NYC, my daughter in law Crystal with her 16-wk old Great Dane puppy is flanked by my grandson Scott (9) and my granddaughter Alaina (7). They decided to take “Dakota” to the beach, where he was soon terrified by an unexpected wave. The puppy is adorable, but tires easily, refusing to walk more than the equivalent of a NYC block or two. I’m sure my W-litter puppy will have just a little more gas in his tank! After taking the children to Disney World, we’ll be leaving Florida to return home to Massachusetts, and prepare to drive to Michigan.
Yeah Beverly, you are a blogger! Yes the W litter can already out last the 16 week GD. Your Grand children are beautiful…where did Alaina get that hair? Wow people pay a fortune for hair like that.
I was just about to post almost the same thing word for word.

That is a 16 week old puppy? And I thought GSDs grew fast! Your AT puppy will not only outlast the ever ready bunny but will love the water. Sade was not intimidated at all by the waves of Lake Michigan.
I am sure you can’t wait for your road trip.

We can hardly think about anything else – I actually feel guilty thinking about my puppy while I’m playing with my grandchildren, so we all look at the pictures of AT dogs in the blog together. It’s such fun to see all the puppies growing up, and the activities of their older relatives. The kids loved seeing their picture online today. By the way, that hair is thanks to Loreal, not mother nature! I’m so glad the dogs like water! We’ll be dock diving at the lake in the summer, and going to the beach in Florida a few weeks each winter. I’m not sure how GSD coats and skin tolerate salt water. We have an outdoor shower at the beach, so maybe he’ll be fine if we just rinse him off before we head home. My Lab loves the ocean as much as we do, and is a great swimmer.

Wow—even Batman can’t compete with those ears!

@Beverly Ivan’s Lynda would be the resident expert on dog coats and salt water. Judging from the way Ivan and Dylan look it will not be an issue.
