Kelly Malone, Roman’s amazing herding instructor, will be giving a clinic in Whitmore Lake. Kelly is a fantastic teacher and the clinic is worth checking out if you’re at all interested. It’s not necessary to sign up for the entire weekend. You can take one lesson or just come out to watch.

Thank you Rita! I am planning on coming out—- Kira *should* have had her puppies by then. I might have to bring Funny just so she can smell sheep again. None of the other dogs have seen sheep. Any suggestions on who to bring?
Hmmmm..not sure. The first time I took Roman, he had never seen sheep, either. Kelly took him in the pen on a 60 ft line, just to see what he would do and how he’d react to the sheep moving. I think she only had 5 or 6 in the pen. The sheep on this farm are pretty stable and don’t move to fast.
Julie, funny would just love it!
Enjoy! Kelly Malone does not do tending-style herding, though, does she? She’s AKC A & B course, if I remember correctly?
tending-style is similar to what they do in Germany?
Yep! AKC has A, B, and C course herding. The C course is designed for the tending style, which is the German, HGH style of herding. I’m pretty sure you don’t find C course trials with several hundred sheep, though. 🙂
You’re correct. Just as a side note, Kelly has a few German GSDs that are her favorites 🙂
