Well…still no action, the pups are happy hanging-out inside of Kira. Kira is miserable and wants these puppies out. She is ready and her milk is in…the puppies just are not ready. Not standing the suspense, Mos and Tiffany took some xrays, it took two shots to get a view of all the puppies. As of this evening Kira is refusing to eat, even Iams biscuits.
Poor Kira! Hopefully it won’t be much longer. Lily will be checking the blog first thing when she wakes up in the morning. It looks like Lily’s guess of 18-20 puppies was just a tad bit off…
I think Lily made a good guess, these pups are gi-normous, based on the films. Getting closer but nothing yet.
Wow! Poor Kira. It can’t be much longer. Does this mean she’ll get double the Breyer’s with each puppy? Is she still not eating? I wouldn’t either if I were here. If they want food they can come out to get it! Good Mom, Kira. Good Mom! Tough love!
As Lily was falling asleep last night she popped her eyes open and said, “Oh no Mom! I forgot to check on Kira!”. (It had been nearly 3 hours since she had checked the blog.) This morning she looked at the films and promptly stated that there were 8 puppies. Perhaps I have a future radiologist in the family? I went to show her the different parts of the puppies and before I could say a word she started telling me what were the heads and bodies.
Lily I am impressed!
Go take a nap before the action starts.

Poor girl does look miserable. It does look like any time now.
Kira has kept me from getting a good night sleep since last weekend. She is seeing to it that I am as miserable as she is. 🙂 The only difference is I am still eating….which in my case is not a good thing….and I am sleep deprived so it means I am eating more then I should.
Right now we are in the whelping room, she is doing some nesting…nothing like what Allie does…no one nests like Allie. Lots of panting, but that has been going on for days. I have not seen any contractions, I can see the pups moving inside her…not hard to do her belly is stretched like a drum. The pups look like they are trying to march out. I am smelling some of odors that come with the birthing process, must be some discharge. Now she is sleeping….
Do you have any pictures of her now? If the pictures from the 17th made her look big, I can only imagine how big she looks now!
Hopefully she’s done before tomorrow so you can have a nice Thanksgiving. I was a little depressed this morning while doing my barn chores thinking back a year ago today, I was with my Mom driving Gavin to the airport. 🙁
