The secret to going to your first show ever and a sieger show at that and winning second place:
1) have a good bond with your dog
2) have your dog in good physical condition
3) be athletic and able to run to triathlons
4) live on a 1000 acres in VA horse country
5) ring train your dog by riding through the woods on your horse and have your dog follow so he learns to search for you
6) have a cute-talented-young German handler
7) have an awesome dog
I am so impressed! It’s so nice to see a strong bond and good training be recognized like this. It’s not enough for the dog to be handsome (which he is), he needs to be the whole package.
You should be proud of yourself and Huck. VP2 on your first show?! That’s not just luck, that’s hard work and a real bond with your dog.
I’m in DC and don’t have 1,000 acres — can I borrow yours? This horse country sounds like heaven! If I end up showing Batman, Julie says I should just copy you.
Yes, they did. This is very typical from Allie, as she has a head as big as a male. OH I don’t have horses or 1000 acres either, but a cute-young-German handler we can get for you!
And… does he have any cute-young German handler brothers? (LOL)

I agree with all of the above, so I’ll just add that Huck was awesome.
However, he is a typical Alta-Tollhaus dog. As he was gaiting by me he heard the click of my shutter. Of course, he had to darn near stop and smile for the camera! What a ham!

speaking of triathlons how was it?
That’s a good tip Julie.
Koda, we have no chance. Sorry– mommy.
WHAT? Koda is not awesome????
No horses
No 1000 acres
No cute German handler
Koda is oozing awesomesauce, that we got.
Hahah Julie you’re way too kind. Huge emphasis needed re: points six and seven.
My new ring-training recommendation, we all need to buy horses…now I wonder if we can double handle from our horses at shows?
It would sure eliminate our problem for running! LOL
Awesome post and Huck is a gorgeous dog, with a beautiful owner. I am so glad we got to meet you!

JK— Well said!
The S litter sure produced beautiful big heads, wouldn’t you say Julie?

that’s definitely the secret ingredient!

Carole, how about some Huck pics, I’d love to see some more pics of this handsome boy.
I’m working on it—I was pulled away on another project. Working on the 6-9 Males now.
LOL I KNOW RIGHT! Too bad the camera click wasn’t louder, we could use it as a double handling noise.
It was great to meet you and Huck at NASS Margaret. I LOVE your boy…you are lucky I didn’t steal him when you weren’t looking!
I also LOVE the scenery out of your window…and that Huck is lounging around on your window seat!
