I had to judge an AHBA trial in Nevada this last weekend. Decided to take Singer along to compete. The drive up was about 12 hours and this was the first time
Singer had been in a motel. After the long confined drive and a night in the motel we went to the trial. Other then a few short walks Singer was crated in the car. When it was his time to compete you can imagine he was full of energy and ready to go. For the most part he did well. A couple of sheep broke off at one point and he chased them around getting a warning from the judge. In his class he was the only non-border collie. He took third place. Comments from the crowd were “That was the most exciting run all day.”, “What fun it is to watch a dog that really enjoys herding.”, “He’s going to be one tough dog to beat in the future.” and “where did you find this dog?”. What is really funny is the way Singer responds to the crowd. After doing a ribbon pull, which was part of the course, the on lookers let out a cheer. As the crowd cheered Singer stopped what he was doing and gave them a look as if to take a bow. On Sunday I was the judge so he could only run to qualify and not place or win any award. Well it was raining but he was very wound up and a handful to handle but he completed the course. If it had counted for placement Singer would have won the class and also won the award offered for highest combined score for a started dog. The judge that scored us commented “Really nice dog. Good handling.” Everyone was very impressed with the work of such a young GSD. Singer is now Alta Tollhaus Just a Singer HT,PT, HIC, JHD, HRDIs.
Congratulations !!! Wow Singer is a handsome boy!!!
Can’t imagine why you would think Gavin’s little brother is handsome! 🙂
Lol!! That was a super nice cross, Singer is one masculine dude!
Yes, IMHO I think the best progeny from XBox. Singer was a singleton puppy but Gavin had brothers that were just as handsome as he is. Felix in Iowa has an even bigger head then Gavin. He was only shown one time and won his class.
Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous!!! Congratulations on your work and winning over a border collie crowd.
Handsome boy!! He takes after his momma!
Julie correct me if I am wrong, but wasn’t Funny the Herding Siegrin?
Keep up the great work!!!
Yes you are correct Karen. Singer’s motherline has 14 consecutive generations of HGH titled dogs going back to 1940’s . The first Herding Siegrin in his pedigree is the 1951 HÜTENSIEGERIN Nolina vom Blasienberg
Rich, you need to tell us what these titles are: HT,PT, HIC, JHD, HRDIs
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!
In AKC HT= herding tested- PT= Pre trial tested
In AHBA HIC= herding instinct certified- JHD= junior herding dog- HRDIs=herding ranch dog level 1 the lower case letter (in this case s) stands for the type of stock it was earned on. Types of stock are s=sheep, c= cattle, d=ducks are the normal but can include g=geese.
It gets even more complicated as there are different types of courses also. AKC has course A, B, and C. AHBA has HRD, HTD, HTAD and RLF. And then there is ASCA which requires dogs to run sheep, cattle and ducks at all levels. Singer has one leg (qualifying run) toward his AKC level 1 A course title. He should earn this title next month. We will let you know.
OH MY this herding stuff is a sub-culture of the sub-culture! 🙂 Thank you for the herding titles primer.
Can’t stop staring at this handsome boy. Congratulations!
Congratulations Rich and Singer – intelligence and good looks! What a combination!
Yeah, Singer has it all. Now if we could just do something for Rich.
LOL Well rich was smart enough find Singer and we all certainly he is pretty darn handsome himself…so there you go looks and intelligence.
You took the words right out of my mouth Julie! Rich is a very handsome man with a very handsome canine companion!
What a handsome boy he is, wow!
Again
Wow!
Singer has grown up into a VERY handsome boy. They are all beautiful pictures. Congratulations on all your herding accomplishments.
I keep coming back here looking at this handsome boy, he is just STUNNING!
Singer says, if your ever in the San Diego area come by and see him. We’ll take you out and show you some herding. Rich will even give you a lesson and some tips.
I am not joking when I say we are planning on coming out this winter! Of course Josie doesn’t need to get away from the cold like most of us do. But the company will be fun!
if you’re really serious, let me know enough ahead of time to arrange time for everyone that may be coming to get lesson time. I could let you know of any cost. Hopefully you all can come at a time when it’s not raining. If it is raining we can always get some margaritas, chips and salsa to pass the time.
Count me in! 🙂
