I decided it would be a good idea to start a new thread on the subject. I know Andrea, Lisa and I are planning to go. Who else from the Alta-Tollhaus family are planning to go?

I’m considering going and showing my working line dog. It’s actually easier and cheaper for me to enter the Canadian Nationals than the USA shows, hehe (all they require is the AKC reg, I don’t have the certified 4-gen pedigree yet).
I am hoping to go, but I do not yet have a dog to show. 🙂
No worries, we will keep you busy!
Do the puppies need AKC registrations also?
Lisa,
I checked and you can enter them registration pending. It is common for young puppies to not have registration completed.
@Monica Zanetti I’m sure if you go there will be puppies to show 🙂 =^..^=
I have a feeling that you already have three in the same class that would bid for your services.
and to double handle.
Double handle???
Lisa, they told me all the dog needs is AKC registration papers. Usually for WDA and USA a dog over 12 months needs the certified 4-generation AKC pedigree as well. I have those papers for Nikon but not my pup yet. My pup will be turning 1 this month and I would show him to get a score card for a future breed survey. You do have to pay by international bank money order and add 5CAN if you are not part of their national club. You have to fill out their online form, then mail a copy of your AKC paper and the money order payment.
You can enter them registration pending but they do want the indentifying tatoo or microchip number.
Since we are crossing the border with them it might be worth a trip to the vet and have them provide a letter, note with the dog’s name, owner info and microchip number. That along with a current rabies certificate (note: rabies cannot have been given within 30 days of travel). should be enough to get back and forth.
The entry process is a little confusing. The easy way to do this is enter your dog online and pay through paypal.
I just got an email asking if the Alta-Tollhous Sade from the paypal payment was the same dog as Alta-tollhaus Shone Zeta on the entry. That followed by another email that said, sorry, never mind, please ignore the other email.
Lisa – Have you entered Libby yet? That will really confuse them!
yes, I did it online last night
Chatted with Jason (helper and also an excellent handler) last night and he was kind enough to do some work with her to stack her. My double handling will be easy once I figure out when to call and how much. With her less is more and out of sight with an occassional call should do it. In fact, he couldn’t get a decent stack until I was out of sight. Tells me we have some work to do on separation.
His suggestion was to play hind and seek at home and elsewhere with her. Have someone hold her and go out of sight and call her or use a noise and see how much it takes to perk her up without her getting over excited.
I don’t think I would be too worried about her being too “geeked” for knowing where you are for the this up-coming show. If Margit works them like she has in the past then this will work in your favor.
I think people who would like to attending these shows that live around Julie & I should start getting together for some training! Hehehe. 🙂
When and where?
I’ll have to talk to Julie.
What shows? There has been no shows. We have to get together on our own.
@Monica Zanetti
I’ll put Libby on the next bus!!!!
Okay! Haha. 🙂
XBox is going to have a progeny group at the Sieger show. Your dog is automatically entered into the progeny group when you enter the show. I will work on getting handlers.
Great!
That would be fantastic. I worked w/a handler tonight and he coached me on being outside the ring to make her “sparkle” without having her get overstimmed. She did very well. He advised getting a handler for in the ring. He knows Margit & thinks she will like Libby.
That is what we call “double handling” making them sparkle is a good too, might have to adopt that term, instead of double handlers they can be called “Sparklers.”
Good work getting some coaching before the show!
I sparkle w/out coaching after a few margaritas!!!! I entered online last night and paid w/paypal. Do I still need to mail something? You are right about it being confusing. Also, they said if the dog does not have a tatoo & is micro-chipped you need to bring a reader. Is that for real???
It is the worst online entry I have ever done. Their directions are confusing. I can’t figure out if you need to email the scanned application after you submit online or if you need to mail it or do both. I emailed to find out (yes, I am anal and like to know). I will let you know when I hear back.
This could turn out to be the hardest part of the show!!!
that is why you are so good at running shows!
speaking of Canadians, I had to sign a waiver for a job we did in Canada, Oy! talk about confusing! They have a different term for everything.
You must have some sort of company business in Niagara Falls the week of Sept 4th@josiem
