Alta-Tollhaus in the Rough “Bogey” earned his MACH title!!!!! Congratulations Kim LaSerra, owner, trainer, handler, and co-breeder of Bogey!!!! Here is the final run that completed the title:
It is tradition for the club to give a new MACH winner a blinged-up jump bar which everyone at the trial then signs. You are also suppose to run around the ring with your dog and jump bar so everyone can cheer for you, but as you see the always-modest Kim just runs right out. A video of the celebration, as you can see Bogey knows he did something special:
Thank you Judd for the videos!
MACH is the acronym for Master Agility Champion. For those of you who may be interested, here is how you go about getting yourself a MACH on your dog:
Taken from the AKC Agility rulebook: http://www.akc.org/pdfs/rulebooks/REAGIL.pdf
To obtain the MASTER AGILITY CHAMPION title (MACH), a dog must exhibit superior performance on the agility course. Speed and consistency are the two major qualities denoting “superior performance” and therefore they are the basis for the MASTER AGILITY CHAMPIONSHIP program.
In order to acquire the MASTER AGILITY CHAMPION title, a dog must achieve a minimum of 750 championship points and 20 double qualifying scores obtained from the Excellent B Standard Agility class and the Excellent B Jumpers With Weaves class.
MACH Points
750 points required minimum
• 1 point is awarded for each full second under standard course time. (No partial points are awarded.)
• Dogs earn points from the Ex B Agility class and/or the Ex B Jumpers With Weaves class.
Double Qualify (2Q’s)
20 (2Q’s) required minimum
• Dogs qualifying with scores of 100 in both the Ex B Agility class and the Ex B Jumpers With Weaves class on the same day.
• Qualifying in both the Ex B Agility class and the Ex B Jumpers With Weaves class on the same day equals 1 (2Q).
Requirements General Scoring. Only scores of 100 (clear rounds) obtained in the Excellent B classes will count towards a dog’s Master Agility Championship requirements.
A dog does not have to obtain the Master Excellent title (MX) or the Master Excellent Jumpers With Weaves title (MXJ) prior to achieving scores that will count towards their Master Agility Championship title (MACH). A dog need not be in both “B” classes in order to start accruing MACH points. Any score of 100 (clear round) obtained in the Excellent B classes will count towards both the dog’s Championship requirements, and the dog’s MX titling requirements.
Titles: The MACH title initials will be followed by a numeric designation indicating the quantity of times the dog has met the requirements of the MACH title as defined above, e.g., 1500 MACH points and 40 2Q’s = MACH2.
